NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

The funny thing is Elanga would be doing numbers in other less physical leagues on the continent. Great work-rate, lightning speed, good weak foot; i get that many want someone with more technical ability but he’s an Eddie Howe winger through and through.

You pay a premium for PL players because you know what they can do in this league. I’m not saying we should shell out 50m but anything less than 40m would be decent business imo.

It's a shame that most of the top RW options are going to be left footed, because of the systems teams play.  As having Murphy on the right and having him get to the line has massively helped stretch play and him and Isak have struck up a real understanding.

Elanga is far better on his left than Murphy and will cut in and drift around more.  But still has that mad pace to get past his man on the outside, as well.  I'm not saying he is enough of an upgrade or worth the money.  But I wouldn't mind us going with a right footer for that side.  Isak certainly seems to enjoy it.

Elanga is nowhere near 50 million player. I don't get why people are so into him. He doesn't have a good shot, isn't a great creator or dribbler. He is just fast.

Nowhere near the player we need. Wouldn't be a starter for any big 6 team.

I hope we are past this "let's buy 'proven EPL player for 50 million' and not a similar type player from the continent for half the price" -nonsense. Mitchell should do his job.

I know this is has been said to death now... but people said the same (and worse) about Gordon. Honestly think Elanga is better/more effective now than Gordon was when we signed him from Everton.

People might have said something like that, but Gordon had 11 goals last season. I don't think Elanga will ever reach that kind of numbers. We need both of our wide players to score and assist. I just see nothing special in Elanga. Malen for example a much better player (I don't think he is the answer either) and going for a lot less.

I think Elanga is not a big upgrade on Murphy. Even their G+A stats are pretty close.

Gordon's last half season at Everton before moving in Jan:

Games: 16

Goals: 3

Assists: 0

Elanga this season so far:

Games: 21

Goals: 3

Assists: 5

And those numbers actually undersell Elanga, who is way more integral to how Forest play compared to Gordon at Everton. Don't think it's being crazy to suggest that with 18+ months of Howe Elanga could be producing in a similar way to Gordon. In terms of goal involvements this season he isn't far off already.

Was quite impressed by elanga last night, took on the defender every time and won quite a few, also defended well until he ran completely out of steam near the end. still think we should aim higher than him.

The player who really caught my eye was in the chelsea bournemouth game, the young Spanish defender Dean huijsen was really magic and has great passing ability. sure we were looking at him at some point. Would be a great buy to bring in and replace schar in a year´s time? Price might be a bit high now though

For what Elanga costs there are surely better options available in the summer for the same or less money

Honestly for the fee that Huijsen went for, I csnt believe we didn't go for him

I know we had our Guehi goggles on all summer, but he went for such a low fee, and seemed a low risk transfer too

I only looked league games.

I don't think Elanga is a bad player, but does he improve our XI massively? No he wouldn't.. And when we put 40-60 million on one player, he has to be a top top player. Mbeumo for ex. would be that.

But I wouldn't buy from EPL rival. We are most likely going to be fleeced.

Elanga had 5 goals and 9 assists in the Prem last season.

He was only 21 years old.

And that Forest team wasn't as good as it's been this season.

This is starting to sound like gooners talking about Isak.

Is it?  We actually enquired about Elanga in the summer and a few places reported we made a couple of bids.  We have been genuinely linked a couple times, no?  Not just social media influencer wankers on Sky and idiots like Merson and Deeney constantly banging on about Arsenal signing Isak.  Is it also that unrealistic as a signing?

Plus plenty on here seem to not want him, anyway.  I doubt you'll find many Arsenal fans who don't want Isak

Elanga is a good player and he'd be a good signing, depending on price.

Right now Forest aren't likely sellers, Elanga is undoubtedly pretty happy and we aren't likely buyers at the price they would want.

For 50m or whatever it would take, you are getting close to the price for Mbeumo and I'd rather fork out a touch more on a better player.

Alternatively we could probably spend 40ish on Dibling, which would also be better value.

My only issue with Dibling is whether he can hit the ground running particularly if we got champions league. Undoubtedly a great talent, anyway it’s an interesting discussion and to be fair we haven’t finished this season yet lol

Probably but we are a club that will have to gamble on players that need some development eg Lewis Hall and Minteh

Well, then obviously he will get better numbers this season? His pace is pretty much the same this season (3+5 bit over half a season gone)

I am again not saying he is not a good player, but he really is not a solution for our problems, especially if he ends up costing 50 million (which is more than Gordon cost)

Yeah, sure. You're entitled to your opinion on the matter.

Everyone has their player preferences.

He is a good player though, and would be well capable of getting really good numbers, especially in our team.

But some people just want a different profile of player, which is fair.

Eddie has worked wonders with players who up to that point were abysmally coached. A load of players he inherited had been coached by Bruce, Gordon was at the career graveyard that is Everton. Elanga has a competent manager so it’ll be a lot more what you see is what you get.

Gordon played under Ancelotti and Rafa at Everton...
