The Prophet Posted Friday at 10:07 Share Posted Friday at 10:07 Big fan of Delap, he's a proper throwback. For the sake of his career though, he needs to play for a club where he'll be first choice.
Paully Posted Friday at 10:10 Share Posted Friday at 10:10 (edited) Yep - no chance Delap comes here to sit on the bench! Edited Friday at 10:10 by Paully
WilliamPS Posted Friday at 10:36 Share Posted Friday at 10:36 It’s sensible that the club have succession plans for all players. I hope isaks succession plan isn’t needed for a few years yet
Sibierski Posted Friday at 11:13 Share Posted Friday at 11:13 Delap either goes to a side like Fulham etc. where he’s a regular, but priced out of future moves and no Europe majority of time. Or he joins a side like us (or Villa etc) where you are never going to be first name on team sheet from word go, and it’s down to you to change that. Mahoneys Tache Posted Friday at 11:20 Share Posted Friday at 11:20 Delap has a Jamie Vardy vibe about him.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Friday at 11:25 Share Posted Friday at 11:25 Is Delap that highly rated? I know people like and talk about him, but there's a big difference between that and genuinely being an elite player. They talk about Evan Ferguson as well. I like him mind, seems a really good player.

Not in their qualities as players, but in their mentality on the pitch. They've got that dog in them, chasing, harrassing, and always looking to get a psychological advantage over their opponents. Big River Posted Friday at 11:33 Share Posted Friday at 11:33 Delap is absolutely quality. no doubt in my mind he could make the step up and become a leading European striker
southernmag Posted Friday at 12:04 Share Posted Friday at 12:04 I agree that Delap has the potential to go to the top, but like others have said, we'd be signing him a year after we should've. And paying the price (literally) for it. IMO David on a free is smarter business in the current PSR climate.
Sibierski Posted Friday at 12:09 Share Posted Friday at 12:09 Delap will be about £40m since that’s the buy back Man City have I think, so not having window to buy him being last year and it’s gone. This is the last window, after that it’s £80m+ if trajectory continues.
NotRich Posted Friday at 12:26 Share Posted Friday at 12:26 Imagine Delap doing all of Isak's donkey work. Me gusta.
nufc123 Posted Friday at 12:28 Share Posted Friday at 12:28 Replacement for Isak the article said.
Conjo Posted Friday at 12:46 Share Posted Friday at 12:46 If he was available at an acceptable price and we get european football next season, I don't think he'd be opposed to joining us because of Isak. He'd get a lot of football here due to rotation, Isak injuries & occasionally when we want to play with two up top like we did quite a lot with Isak and Wilson two seasons ago when we were chasing an equalizer. Nine Posted Friday at 13:35 Share Posted Friday at 13:35 Delap does have a very high ceiling, probably elite potentially. And he’s English. But he needs to go somewhere to play or he won’t realise it. If we have Isak we are no good for him.

gbandit Posted Friday at 18:01 Share Posted Friday at 18:01 If his attitude was / is right then it’s clearly a great move. He’s got a lot of Isak traits (not close to his overall level) while being more of an athlete
Ritchie Posted Friday at 18:03 Share Posted Friday at 18:03 If we’re going to replace Isak with anybody it should be with Samu Aghehowa.

JigsawGoesToPieces Posted yesterday at 08:29 Share Posted yesterday at 08:29 We cant be splashing £40m on a backup striker, we always seem to buy english players which have an overinflated price. We need a first choice new RM, CB & GK as a mininum then some smarter lower cost squad players to replace the likes of Wilson, Targett, Longstaff, Murphy etc.

Delap is a good striker but Isak is word class. I hope you improve your team, not downgrade.
