We’re not as attractive as Chelsea to a player, and our bench is even less attractive - was there ever anyone who seriously thought Delap was coming here?

For financial reasons, not football reasons imo.

Looks like Chelsea already have Delaps replacement lined up for next summer

They must be such a difficult team to actually like as a fan ya know. No time to get attached to the players to fully back em before they’re being shipped out or replaced after only 12 months.

For both - they’re England’s most successful club this century

Not for either TBH, surely he wants almost guaranteed starts.

He’d get more money, and sign for a more glamorous club

correct, it’s mental strength problem, not attitude. People got this mixed up.

It’s almost the same thing though.  It’s just it’s not intentional.

Being mentally strong is about having the right attitude. But again not in this binary ‘good attitude’ ‘bad attitude’ way.  It takes a certain attitude to be resilient, to try and forget past mistakes or a certain situation out your head.

But it’s not bad attitude in a HBA way.

I can't answer that, I'm just saying I would expect that it's part of his reasoning.

If that's his reasoning, he'll have terrible advisors. I doubt Delap would be their star striker summer signing, especially with the Champions League this season. He'd be a backup there too. But London life, a young team, playing for Chelsea, and a good contract... I bet he'd pick them over us. Honestly, most of us would in that situation.

He'll be confident of starting more regularly there as they have no one near Isak's level.

Also has the Man City familiarity with Maresca and Palmer too.

Understandable decision.

Going to Man Utd would have been the really bad decision.

Good job the fans are as suited to the club as the current view. Throbbers, the lot of them.

100% - and while Man Utd are undoubtedly England’s biggest club, they’re an absolute clusterfuck at the moment

If he chooses to sign for Chelsea after all this then he clearly wasn't worth the hassle to begin with and he deserves everything he gets from that absolute shit show.

Chelsea are quite clearly the best option if he wants guaranteed minutes. And they'll pay more. And its London.

Can understand him going to either Man U or Chelsea tbh, they both really need a top class striker more than we do. But will they really sign Delap and pin their hopes on him being that striker? Chelsea I think would definitely look to sign a senior striker, maybe Man U under their skinflint owner would be more prepared to take a punt on Delap starting every game as first choice.
