Delap probably going to Chelsea because of Palmer, who he would have known from Man City youth team

And he played under Maresca in the Elite Development Squad youth team at Man City, double pull if he liked playing for him.

Be £££££ - we'll probs not be able to match the wages being offered.

I think Chelsea stopped handing out daft wages didn't they? Seems to be lower wages but massive contract lengths now.

This is the story they keep pushing and they have but not by that much.

The athletic.

Chelsea’s wage bill fell £66m to £338m, but 2022-23’s figure included an estimated £45m in termination payments.

Another tidbit.

Without selling their assets to themselves — including two hotels in 2022-23 — Chelsea’s pre-tax loss over the last three years would have been £358.3m, more than three times the amount permitted by the Premier League, albeit their PSR loss reduces from that level once allowable costs are deducted.

Cartel clubs have it so good.

Might get the odd loan turned to permanent, or relegation/minimum release clauses activated first part of the window but think the big one will be end of June again when clubs are moving players around to get by PSR.

Yeah don't reckon PSR is basically dead at this stage? Weather it's play swap or selling assets.

Nobody knows for sure but I’ve seen 200m banded about transfer kitty wise? What’s peoples rough guess?

Depends who goes IMHO. The squad (not the first 11) needs some major strengthening to tackle a sustained charge all season; we might need a couple of surprise exits to fund that.

Annoying Delap wants Chelsea. Everyman and his dog knows he’ll be available for loan in January 2026, after he doesn’t play much and Chelsea still want a striker.

Im not sure about that if Jackson is his competition, did you see his header last night ? Not to mention his control when through at the keeper.

Chelsea wanted a new striker last summer, after signing Jackson in previous one and him doing well first season :D They also keep signing wingers and CMs :D

Delap can score 8 in 24 (good return to start off with) and he’ll be deemed disposable as the next thing is available. He’ll be nothing more than a PSR flip for them.

Tough as these transfer windows are, and a particular grind when we don't engage in them like the last 3, we need to ignore the noise.

We can't buy everyone. We can't compete with the top clubs on either wages or esteem.

We will, however, buy well.

I try not to fret over who buys who. It's not even a FCB hangover. I've fretted away since 1970ish when I was old enough to know who the best players were.

The only times my FOMO relented were the Keegan, Robson, Rafa....ish and Edduardo years.

Chilled af the noo

Hear hear. Unlike the last windows we do have money this time round and Eddie will spend it wisely.

He obviously likes the colour blue, money and Larnden. Basket case club!

Agree. This is the downside of having a striker like Isak. Not many aspiring strikers would want to come here to sit on the bench behind him.

Is Mateta achievable? It's not much of a punt he has grown to be an excellent centre forward for Palace so I imagine he would cost an absolute bomb but don't know if time left on contract etc. I also wonder if he'd want to come to play second fiddle. I think we're more likely to sign someone up and coming again with a bit more risk attached. Mateta would be great but doubt it

Not a fan of Delap, would rather take a punt on Mateta or Osimhem

I think he's a good player like, much though I hate to admit it.

Has Branthwaite not been linked with us ? He was linked with everyone last year but this year nobody wants him

Everton aren’t as panicked as they were last year. They’re shedding a shit load of deadwood and have the new stadium revenue increase from next season. They’re asking Maguire daft money for him.
