NUFC Transfer Rumours

We won't get many good players in if 100 million is all we got.

They just guess these figures.

Man U have reportedly got the same figure and are signing Cunha and/or Delap. We could make a couple of big moves depending on contract situations, unfortunately our spending is restricted by league rules.

We need a bigger squad, so if we only have £100m we cant spend half of it on one player.

Not that I believe the £100m number, maybe if we hadn't made CL.

Personally I would prefer Kudus to Mbeumo. I think his playing style would make us more versatile and unpredictable. Better in general play. Would offer us something different.

I'm not totally sold on Mbeumo - didn't pass the eye test when we played Brentford at St James'

How the fuck is it only £100m we’ve sold miggy & Kelly for over £30m and haven’t signed anyone in 3 windows and qualified for CL

I mean Hope might be right, but there is absolutely no way anyone at the club has come out and told him our budget.

Craig Hope reporting a budget of £100m.

Keep in mind he quoted £75m in summer 2023 and a month later we had signed:

Tonali £55m

Barnes £40m

Tino £35m

Minteh £8m

Total £138m

I mean yes but that then fucked us over for the next 3 windows, leading to us being forced to sell Anderson and Minteh.

Maybe £75m would've been the right number?

Sticking with my default setting of 'believe absolutely nothing unless it's an official statement/direct attributable quotes or you see anyone holding a scarf over their heads'

Makes things much easier to ignore

Well they might have leaked it, but even then its probably not true. Just a way to not let the market know what we are working with.

Can't be arsed fretting about it tbh. Whatever the figure is we'll have to make it work. I am pretty sure we'd spend a lot more given some wiggle room by PSR, but if we are limited to £100m then I trust the club to make the right signings.

Ornstein or bust for me

PIF haven't fucked about sacking Mitchell to give Howe total control and a few quid they found down the back of the sofa. I imagine Howe will have a list of targets that will be "got through" without any interference from those above him.

He's probably the only one I'd think - yeah he's said it's going to happen so it probably is legit.

But even then...

Isn’t a £100m a lot for this year? If we buy a £60m player. We pay £20m a year spread out over 3 years. That means we can get 3/4 big players this summer.

'Budgets' are always reported in terms of signing fees.

Would it not make more sense for the club to say we have less to spend than we actually do? If they came out and said we had £300m (for argument sake) to the media etc. then clubs would add extra on their asking price? Much prefer the days when nobody knew (or probably cared) how much a club had to spend.

Think that is pretty much the case today. The leaked budgets are rarely right.

5) Newcastle United five-year net spend: £-307.4m

25/26: £14.4m
24/25: £-17.73m (5th)
23/24: £-85.79m (7th)
22/23: £-141.69m (4th)
21/22: £-108.17m (11th)

NUFC Five Year Net Spend.

Our biggest window 22/23 should be coming off the books for PSR purposes so I don't understand the low figure of £100m. Plus we have CL and the Kelly money to use.

Remember that next season we will get rid of the 22/23 season were we had a loss of over £70m. With CL (and sales of Kelly and Almiron) im confident that we have a lot of room to operate in PSR wise.
