Same every year, season ends, transfer hysteria begins but everyone and their uncle is away on holiday (unless you're skint Man U who piss off to get humiliated in the far east) so nothing happens for a couple/few weeks. It's the only break they get, especially this year with no proper tournaments going on and yet folks expect it to be like black Friday for footballers. janpawel Posted yesterday at 06:40 Share Posted yesterday at 06:40 No mention of a CM in these articles, really hope we do get one, necessity imo, I seen somewhere Joelinton has missed 36% of matches the last 2 years

This is a bit of an issue mind, thanks for sharing these numbers I thought he missed a few games but 37% is a lot.
Displayname Posted yesterday at 06:58 Share Posted yesterday at 06:58 God forbid something happens to Tonali or Bruno. But considering that Eddie even changed formations to avoid using one of our backup CMs I think he is probably well aware of the need we have of more quality depth there. We’re paying him too much, how is he affording a trip during school holidays? he should have waited a few days and the prices would have gone right down hope it’s not been taken out of the transfer fund…

janpawel Posted yesterday at 09:10 Share Posted yesterday at 09:10 If we sign something like GK - Trafford CB - Guehi CM - unsure, Mateus Fernandes, Lamine Camara etc RW - Mbeumo Or similar quality players for cheaper prices... Fenham Mag Posted yesterday at 09:26 Share Posted yesterday at 09:26 Would anyone be averse to getting someone like Doucoure as a back up CM? He’s not going to set the world alight but he’s a steady option if there’s an injury crisis.

I think we might end up sticking with Pope anyway tbh, if the budget for new players is limited. A lot will depend on who's available once the cartel clubs have done their buying, same as every year. I think our main priorities might end up being a right sided CB and forward. If we have money left over after getting those, then we might look at keepers. Ikon Posted yesterday at 09:37 Share Posted yesterday at 09:37 (edited) I’m the same. Unless we can get a keeper of Pope’s quality but with better feet then we shouldn’t spend money on a keeper at all. Id be fine with not signing a keeper as long as we get another quality CM in. It’s vital! Both ideally but.. Edited yesterday at 09:38 by Ikon

We should be aspiring to pass Arsenal, not take one of their failure signings. Having ADHD might well be helpful for a goal keeper. Quick thinking, being adaptable, responding quickly to changes, being very aware of your environment and noticing everything that goes on around are all handy. planning, long term thinking, high levels of executive functioning and being well organised are not essential for being a goal keeper. ‘Impulsivity’ otherwise known as acting without thinking is a useful trait in lots of circumstances. I say this as someone who’s had ADHD for 57 years and who’s worked in child mental health services for 24, so this is not ‘bloke down the pub’ wisdom. I think Pickford probably has it. He struggles mostly when he’s got a bit of time to think but he’s a brilliant shot stopper. On balance his strengths far outweigh is weaknesses.
