NUFC Transfer Rumours

They are probably stretching themselves big time in signing Mbeumo for 60m which means they probably have to sell. I bet Amad Diallo isn’t all too happy with this turn of events. I’d take him in a heartbeat and he’d fit our playing style well.

Amad will be playing RWB with Mbeumo in front of him.

Frankly I don’t think Amorim’s system is going to work regardless of who they sign.

No one ever learns do they? Elanga would be quality in our team under Howe man. It's so obvious it slaps you in the face.

Im sure he will, but I would still like a more technical player. I feel we have enough Elangas.

Playing Amad at rwb is an enormous waste of talent. He’s been one of really few positives for ManU at that right sided forward position which Mbeumo will now occupy.

Are either equally as good on both sides?

If not, then I don't think this stacks up.

They're both extremely versatile.

Timber played CB at Ajax as well and has played LB for Arsenal.

James across the line and in midfield (player of the season as a CM on loan at Wigan as a teen, also has CM stints in the Prem with Chelsea).

What’s the fucking point in having opinions on a forum then?  We’re allowed to debate the qualities of a player who hasn’t even signed for us.

This old chestnut. No one is saying you're not allowed an opinion or debate, I'm saying the opinion being in opposition to Howe's should give everyone pause for thought.

All of us have been made to look daft by Howe - on Joelinton, on Gordon, on Miggy, on Murphy, even arguably on Wood. His ability to spot a player and get the best out of them is unbelievable. Yet for some reason some people don't think there's an obvious lesson to learn there.I found it baffling last year, I find it even more baffling now after the season he's just squeezed out of Jacob Murphy. I don't know what it's going to take.

Be interested to know how many of Elanga’s appearances were from the bench last season, from my recollection he wasn’t a starter every week ?

Don’t dislike the player and yes he ticks boxes, but he isn’t changing the outcome in any game we lost at home this season and importantly might only slightly raise the bar in relation to Murphy.

Be very disappointed with Elanga and while Mitchell might well be a cunt, I think he’d have a point with our scouting not being fit for purpose if we shell out 40 million on him.

Can people stop flying off the handle every time we're linked with a player who then doesn't sign for us

99% of players we're linked with won't sign for us. Stop believing everything you read on twitter.

If Howe signs him that’s fine, but you’re basing your point on a rumour about a player we haven’t actually signed. You can’t just claim a player would be perfect fit for us because there’s a rumour we want to sign him

Wood was terrible for us btw. Got better in a different system under a different manager  at a different club. The club who plays a system to suit Elanga.

I think we maybe will end up with Dibling.

Think so too.

By all accounts he's probably the most scouted player out of that list.

Big gamble when he hasn't got the numbers to his name at this stage, but got us written all over I think.

I get what @Shearergol is saying re: Elanga. When I think about that glut of mid-table teams who did us at home this season (Brighton, Everton, Fulham, Bournemouth, West Ham), we probably needed that technical "door opener" player who could unlock a deep sitting defence more than we did pace, speed strength. And Elanga probably isn't that.

But... like @Kid Icarus points out, if Eddie wants someone, unless he's signing someone with one leg it's incredibly difficult to doubt they'll be a good signing in the end, even if it's not someone of the profile or type that we as fans might think is the answer.

My only fear this summer is that we end up not getting anyone again, rather than signing the wrong players or making poor signings. But I don't think we will end up not getting what we need, I think we add those 4 key signings we've all discussed.

Would take Dibling much higher ceiling than Elanga, even if he does look a lazy twat at times with his socks rolled down Waddle esque.
