Apart from the fact we'd have an older player on £200k a week, part funded by us, sat on the bench. When he's not on the bench where's he playing? Who's he replacing?

Gordon's above him in the England pecking order and he's not getting a gig in our mid 3 so I ask again, what's the point of him?

We do need another CM. We suffered when Joe Linton was out end of the season. The drop off from the starting three to Willock and Longstaff is too great.

We need more than 11 players next season. Whether you like him or not if fit he would play a lot of football across the potential 60 games.

Surely you think more of Eddie Howe than this though.

Absolutely. My base point has always been Eddie knows best.

I just think he's shit 😂

The drop off between him and Bruno/Tonali would be huge as well btw.

He'd, maybees, do a job at LM but he'd have to change the Man City mindset and put a rocket up his old, arse

I know where you're coming from but....

He's clearly not 'shit', he's just playing in an incredibly boring Manchester City side.

Can you name a similar profile of a player, in their peak years, not getting game time at a top team who has moved on elsewhere to do well?

Salah, Henry, KDB?, Robben, Shakiri?, Pique, Lukaku, Memphis Depay, Eto'o. For us Beardsley. Suppose it depends on what you define as peak, but there are a canny few players who've left big clubs they weren't getting a look in at and then gone on to shine. All depends on attitude I reckon. I'm in two minds about what Grealish would be like.

So Jack's leaving Man City's bench to be a rotational player in a World Cup year at Newcastle? He'll want to start, not just come off the bench, he is not getting ahead of any of our forwards or CMs so what would be appealing to him to come here? Can only see him pulling a strop here. Best to stay well clear.

Without googling, those seem like awful examples because most were young when they left big clubs and then did better. Not at a peak age.

Obvs it's all puuuuure speculation anyways but, fwiw, I don't really think he's shit like. As said, just went to Man City and got Pep'd

An exciting dynamic winger/midfielder who should've gone on to play havoc, for any team, as a midfielder freed to "express himself" sent out to plod about playing tiki taki

If Eddie wants him fair doos but I'd put my hard earned reputation on the line and say he doesn't 😉

Coutinho and Rodriguez are two of similar moulds. When there’s a rich talent, you can drain the last bit out. A permanent move wouldn’t be wise, but loan is fine (it’s just injuries I’d worry about).

Like I say, it depends on what you mean by peak. That's usually seen as 25 to 30 but it's position dependent and increasingly getting younger.

Players in that age bracket though? Robben, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Sanchez, Suarez, Falcao, Cavani, Forlan, Hummels, Rakitic.

Not saying it's common but it does happen.

And that’s why Miley should leave.

Salah?

I always have this slight reservation about Salah, because at Liverpool, he's been in a very good side, and hasn't been asked to do anything that he's not good at, from a position that he most favours. A very, very effective player in that context, of course.

A memory of him that I will treasure is of him standing and watching whilst Tino and Barnes double up on Liverpool's full back to create our second goal in the final.

The transfer window feelings aren't hitting this summer like

First couple of windows after the takeover it was a right buzz. Believing every foreign journalist on twitter. Every embedded link on here was gospel

Then the last couple its all ffp and psr and feeling pissed off and raging that we are getting fucked over

This year is very meh. We've  heard it all before. Need a Tonali or Isak signing kind of buzz to get me back in the game

Is anyone else worried that we're moving so fast that it actually looks like we're doing nowt?

Is it feasible one of our signings has left the atmosphere?

Grealish would be a poor signing as I don't think he has the motivation (assumption from a far)

It at best offers a short term fix assuming a locks in fully but from a human element, it's a tall ask to ask a 30 yo multi millionaire to take a 'step down' and also expect him to put in the hard graft necessary to succeed.

If the price is right, sure but would rather a 22-25 talent on the rise.

We also already have 2 LWs so unless we're looking to play him in the middle it doesn't address any immediate squad concerns

Don't even think he goes past players much as a wide player, he's not particularly quick. Maybe he would work as a #10 but I think Howe would prefer someone like Pedro who could also double up as a striker.

None of them left a club where they weren't getting a game at their peak playing age, not remotely like Grealish. All those players moved on when they were young to make their name or were playing for the team they left.
