NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

We need a signing like 🤣. I have to say I agree with TCD in the sense that I don’t get the distinction when people say talent and athletic ability as separate things. I personally don’t see where technical ability ends and some form of physical attribute starts. It feels like a very blurry thing - vision, passing, movement, ball striking are all acts executed via an elite athlete, and can be trained.

For me real genuine talent is like HBA. Just born with a gift and a ridiculous touch. Meanwhile players like Doku and ASM have more “learned” the skill imo (while also having very quick feet physically)

I remember vividly because I couldn’t believe what you were saying [emoji38] I actually thought you were pretending to have watched him or like.. racism was blinding you to his very obvious skill set.  You were describing a very basic West African winger type. At worst Kudus is a Mercurial talent.  You were saying he has a genuine lack of footballing ability/talent beyond athleticism, couldn’t believe it.

Sulemana is closer to the description you were giving.

I prefer Kudus because of the higher ceiling. In the right environment Kudus could be a world class player. Surprisingly good in the air, beats a man, shoot off both feet, a threat from range, work in tight spaces, find a pass etc. under Howe Kudus could go to the moon or at very least hit career highs. He has that bit of magic. I think that’s reflected in the fact West Ham would probably want a larger fee than Elanga despite having a poorer season last go out.

My dad’s half West African  so I hope it wasn’t that. Think we’d been linked to both at the time and I got them confused. Knowing me I probably doubled down without really checking.

I feel like if we were an animal we’d have been put out of our misery by now. We should all pitch in and get an Anton Chigurh tribute act to take out a few of the weaker fans

All are talents that are honed.

That ability to do tricks - mentally and physically - is a talent. Dancing is a talent. Running fast is a talent. Being strong is a talent.

Just to contribute to an utterly pointless debate. Footballing talent is of a different character to athleticism. A talented athlete is not by right a talented footballer and a talented footballer is not by right a talented athlete.

Yeh but these are all footballers.

Like being fast and strong is a talent in tennis. It's not a technical talent but a talent nonetheless that helps with the game.

When Bale ran off the pitch to run around that Barcelona player and scored - that was a goal that was only possible due to his insane physical talent. The overhead kick was still a display of talent but a different type. As are the freekicks he's scored. All a combination of incredible physical, technical, mental talents.

I get it - in football we revere technical talents the most. Those are what I call "ballers". That Monaco winger looks a baller, Kudus is a baller. Elanga isn't. Doesn't mean they are not talented footballers.

What's the difference though between a talent and a baller and rizz? Like maybe Eric Cantona had rizz but was he a baller? And if he did have rizz was it a product of some god-given natural talent or did it owe more to some of the films he watched and the books that he read?

Always preferred Ginola to Hatem, not taking anything away from Hatem mind.

Also felt Laurent Robert had the edge with his striking, super powerful accurate shooting.

Hatem was like a hybrid of the pair of them, but Ginola just edges it, think its the way he moved for a taller sexy bastard
