Probably why they're struggling to get to Mbeumo deal done. How can the debt not matter? Where's the line between a club being sustainable and bankrupt? Mbuemo wanted a hefty wedge but with a bit of persuading with champions league football and guaranteed first team starter surely we could've gotten that wage down a bit maybes added incentive based clauses. I don't think a player can afford the club... And that's my bad joke quota for the day filled! 😁

Depends what his starting point is/was. If it’s miles away from what we’re prepared to offer, it’s a waste of time of bothering.
gbandit
The club doesn’t even need to try that hard to sell itself, Eddie will get you playing for your national team, you’ll win silverware and you’ll be adored. The other lads love it here and there’s a great team spirit where we try to hold onto our players. If players don’t buy into that, they can hoy themselves into the sea

Famous Nick
highly doubtful we get any business done in June, luckily July is close, probably new PSR period will bring more action... I wouldnt sell any important player Livramento or Isak, unless we can force obscene offer out of Big 6. we have more than enough task to strengthen the first 11 and the bench especially for next season where we will have lot more games, injuries, fatigue etc. to replace outgoing crucial players would be too much extra stuff to deal with especially without a proper DoF in place. LFEE
Any pre July movement for us would be Villa (?) and I’ve a feeling WHU as they seem to be ripping it up and starting again (?) Maybe Forest also (?) … sure others will know better who’s borderline PSR… Everton, Burnley and Leicester?

Chelsea I guess but they were ahead of us as stated.

It's so stacked on the cartels favour. It should still matter. For example Man Ut’d debt has only increased. There should be a clause that says you must pay off a percentage of your loan each year, and another that says your debt can only be your annual income multiplied by so much. beardsleymagic
Also if their sponsors suddenly decide to not renew or massively reduce their payments (unlikely I know but still a possibility) then, with all that debt they would be in grave danger of going under. Now we, with no debt and with some of the wealthiest owners in the world. Who are not allowed to invest however much they want into the club that they own. Can't push on in case they decide to sell up and leave us in debt and unable to finance the club as it is and thus would be in danger of going under. Hold on...... This is looking suspiciously like double standards here.... Could this whole PSR thing just be to protect the previous bigger clubs and actually have nothing to do with sustainability? kingxlnc
Seeing Clark and Carroll threads bumped makes me think we’re signing back up home grown players for CL would be progress at this rate

RodneyCisse
I dunno if it’s the heat, but I don’t see us signing anyone who another club wants.
SAK
Not sure if serious but CL football, massive support, Eddie Howe and staff, a general upward trajectory are all positives in our favour. PSR restricts us, our initial signing strategy were upcoming players abroad (Bruno, Botman, Isak) or highly rated English players (Hall, Gordon and Livra) which is risky. Tonali was the only young established signing, the other being an older Trippier. Now we’re back at the top we seem to be looking at established players (Guehi, Mbeumo) to take us to the next level but we don’t have the finances to match. I’d go back to the old strategy that got us here. Edited 18 minutes ago by SAK
M1tche
After everything I've read, i've some to a new conclusion on all of this now. Basically, to me, it looks like we have a little bit of PSR headroom before June 30th, we are looking to use that, but we are holding our cards close to our chest to see what happens at Villa. If they get close to the deadline and need bailing out, we'll pounce and get a good deal for a player who is on out "list", if they get out of it a different way, I think we'll see either Trafford or Pedro announced before the deadline to use up the leeway we have left instead
