Seems Villa's focus is flogging its women's team in some capacity. Hate the game not the player and all that.

You sure, i thought they were having a firesale?

As mentioned previously, PSR is pretty much cooked in it's current form. Everyone (myself included) thought Citeh would be blowing it up but it turns out Chelsea were the ones.

I like risks, I’m in two minds on this one as Botman needs to prove his fitness this coming season

May seem daft, but having an array of top quality players competing for two (or on occasion three) CB positions may be easier to manage if you accept that one or two are going to miss a few games (hopefully not all at once and for long periods). It may always be better than having a couple of indestructible cart horses as back-ups.

We're not yet in a position to always buy players who are the cream of the crop. Until we are we're going to have to make do with moves for players like these and hope Howe does his magic on them and hope they're injuries are behind them. See Livramento.

From what I can see Scalvini has had a cruciate knee injury and some sort of shoulder injury. These make up the majority of his extended periods out of action. I don’t think it’s that bad. The rest are 1-3 week layoffs.

I don't think many are, to be honest.  Long gone are the days of being able to sign multiple world-class players for virtually any club as they now cost over £100M, top ones 150+.  I think there will be a tendency now where the top players move less frequently

Felt the same when I read the injury list. Slight risk with any major injuries, but I wouldn't be too worried.

Journalists usually do feed on information from each other tbf. I doubt any of them have much inside knowledge unless an agent is trying to plant stuff through them.

Fair. Maybe I worded it poorly. We're not quite yet in a position to buy players who have minimal or no baggage?

No reoccurring muscle or tendon injuries is alright in my book

No.

Well thats harsh, how can a young apprentice learn if he's not getting constructive feedback and praise when he does good work.

It is disappointing to see how slow we are in the market compared to other teams, i was hoping for a faster start to our dealings than this.

Is this not because we're waiting until the end of the current PSR period though? (So, the end of June)

(Still disappointing in comparison to others, mind)

I wouldn’t have thought so as even if we bought someone of the first of June only one month of Amortisation would’ve affected this years PSR calculations

I don’t think we are, the clubs we want to buy from may want to wait though.

Agreed. It's not their fault more of a symptom of the 24 hour news cycle.

Makes you really miss the halcyon says of the Teletext football gossip page.
