The point is that surely a) we are after DCL given all the links b) Howe sees DCL brings something to the squad that Wilson doesnt (he does) c) given our PSR restraints, it is quite easy to count 1+1 and understand that why we might look for a player like him. Like we were after Tosin, who isnt great either.

Why not say that then? I don't see the point in what value "Eddie likes him" adds to be honest.

 

I haven't watched him so idk, but I would assume if you've qualified for the CL you would be targeting a higher standard of player than one who is available for free.

 

Like giving actual reasons why you think it makes sense is fair enough but boiling it down to the manager likes him so who cares defeats the point of this whole thing.

Well, probably because Eddie knows more about this great sport than anyone else on this forum, even TCD.

I mean Howe sees something in him because we were willing to pay a fee for him earlier. That is why looks certain we are interested when he is free. 
 

He would take Wilson’s place. Wilson cannot run behind, hold up the ball or win duels. You could see when he came on last season he offered nothing. DCL would be target player and at least a some kind of physical precense in the box for the last moments. 
 

Signing DCL does not mean we don’t get a versatile forward player. We offered Wilson a deal and certainly wouldnt start another season with Wilson and Isak as the only options.

That's fine, I think we can all concede that. But I think there's a line between the manager knows more and boiling it down to something so cut and dry.

 

Just don't think it adds much personally, because if you applied to every discussion it would get boring very, very quickly.

Yes in some regards it lays entirely at his door in terms of who we sign this summer without a DOF, but who the fuck is negotiating these deals ?

 

Mitchells gone and Eales is due to go as well, is Nickson a skilled negotiator with other clubs and agents, I’m absolutely astounded we’ve ended up in this situation bang in the summer window.

Calling them stupid, only to be corrected by one of the other ones that he was in the U19s not U21s 😂

 

Now he's saying he hopes we bring in 2/3 new players in the next 5 days, aye alright.

No issue with DCL coming in but the optics need to be right. Announce him to little fanfare after the signings of Jonathan David, Xavi Simons, Elanga, Dibling, Diomande and Akliouche.
