NUFC Transfer Rumours

Get all over Sorloth at that price ffs. Would hopefully still leave money for Wissa or somebody else whilst taking away that desperation need. 35 million is nothing.

It is when his premier league record is questionable at best and in two years time we’d be looking to replace him again with someone younger/quicker etc

If it really gets to the absolute worse case scenario, I imagine we’d just hoy 50m at Wissa or something and get him in on the last day. We won’t let the window close without a striker, even if the price will objectively be a mistake.

The problem with leaving it so late is that by that point, Brentford just might not sell even at £50m because there would be no time to sign a replacement. This is why I said that with Wilson leaving at the end of the season we shouldn't have let it drag on for months. I know there were plenty of others we chased like Delap, Ekitike, Pedro etc, but we seem poorly informed about the competition for those players and what our realistic chances were.

If Osula is really being prepared for a loan or sale then, I reckon  the plan is:

Francesco Pio Esposito (Development prospect who can/will actually start games).

Yoane Wissa or Alexander Sørloth (Starting striker, at least  for first few games post signing).

Alexander Isak (will have to earn his place back, and earn trust, with training performance).

At this stage, I just can’t see Wolves letting Strand Larsen go.

I agree. I think this would be the way to go.

Also, it's increasingly unlikely we get in Wissa or Strand Larsen unless we pay through the nose, and we are also likely going to keep Isak unless Liverpool pay through the nose, and so we won't have big money to spend.

And so the two strikers we bring in will have to be available and be at good value.

Looking at some of the latest names and the fees they are available for. We could see ...

  • Alexander Sorloth (available for £30 million) - Starting lead striker for the immediate future

  • Conrad Harder (available for £25 million) - Higher potential prospect and versatile striker, who can/will actually start games

  • Alexander Isak - Will have to earn his place back and earn trust, with training performance, or continue to be left out indefinitely

  • Will Osula - Out on loan

It sounds like an optimal situation but there’s a lot riding on Isak being mature enough to reintegrate and Eddie bringing him back into the fold and back onside.

If we can get a Wilson replacement plus keep Isak we’ve had a nigh on perfect window imo.

His wages will be riding on it also.

2 years of 15-20 goals for 35-40 million. Sounds good to me.

Couple that with that big ticking clock.

Beggars can't be choosers. If we can scrape another striker through the door whist letting Ratboy sulk then even better.

I'd like someone more creative in the final third but I agree. Cracking window if that happens as we have depth and balance everywhere.

Our first 11 is as good as any, we just needed depth so they aren't all playing all game every game.

I just think there’s better options available that we haven’t even gone in for.

Where exactly? We're not exactly flush with time.

Get him in if he's interested in a move here. We won't be alone in wanting to sign him.

I'd love that Leicester player who's name I won't attempt to spell. Young and creative.

He played for palace about six years ago, he looks like he's come on leaps and bounds.

His time in the EPL was over 7 years ago.  He's grown up and matured as a striker in that time.

I don’t have all the solutions but I’d like for us to at least try and tempt Porto with a bid for Samu. Or go a bit left field with Burkhardt or Woltemade.

Ultimately though I do trust in Eddie and his judgement and if he feels Isak can be brought back around then we have to have faith in his choice to do that.

So it will be from that little group you'd expect.

Wissa I think is Eddie's favourite option.

Larsen would cost a bit too much.

Jackson might have competition for his signature.

Sorloth an option if wissa doesn't look like getting done.

Burkhardt has just moved to a new club at the beginning of the window.

I'd take him in a heartbeat as a Wilson replacement, I watch a lot of German footie and he scores some crackers. Then Wissa could be the Isak replacement.

I can't see it though.

Are you sure you've got the right player? Twice you've mentioned you watch a lot of German football but not sure what that has to do with Sørloth.

The only upside to Sorloth is that he is allegedly available for £30m so at least we won't be paying an extortionate fee for him. But feels like after Wissa it's a big drop down in quality if we are honest, so not surprised we are still pursuing that. Although might well be another lost cause the longer it drags on.
