NUFC Transfer Rumours

If they're looking to move on from Murphy this summer then they're taking this rebuild even more seriously than anticipated.

I hope so. It's not ideal but we really need a massive rebuild. The likes of him and Willock can hopefully release some extra funds along with a bigger sale (Gordon).

This alone has raised my hopes.

The players agent directly into Romano to raise awareness amongst the cartel to get his client more money. Rinse and repeat

Emotional attachment aside selling Murphy if there is a buyer is a good move. Elanga would be sold at a loss, also I think if we sell Murphy another right winger would come in and Elanga long term would become a bench option. We really did badly over pay for him.

Absolutely have to bring in someone else on the right that can be the first team option, and this doesn't necessarily mean spending a huge amount either.

Elanga just has to be seen as more of a bench/rotation option that they continue to work with to improve, like they ultimately did with Murphy previously, as they clearly weren't prepared enough to better fit him into the current Newcastle team based off of how he was used at Forest where he attacked open spaces in transition. Even though the Newcastle team doesn't sit back and counter as much, you'd think they'd at least try to ensure when he gets the ball on the right they'd stop having the 8 on that side and the full back on his side keep crowding his space and bringing more defenders into that area, but no.

I think in time the worst part of last summer isn't going to be the players we're stuck with, it'll be the ones we didn't pull the trigger on when we could offer European football that will now go elsewhere to play in the Champions League.

We signed the majority of our 'star' players when we had no European football.

Yes it is more difficult to attract top players but just because we don't have CL doesn't mean we won't be able to sign some top players. Just means we have to look to Bruno/Botman/Isak style signings that were not as well known or out of form at the time.

I am excited about this summer personally but there are some defeatist posters in here!

IF we do have PSR issues we might be stuck until we either sell someone or until after july 1st.

It was widely reported we had money to spend in January, not sure we will need to sell before we buy.

They are shifting the narrative week by week (hi Douglas), but the Maguire guy said we had a good amount to spend. A Gordon sale plus hopefully Willock should see us go deep in transfer business.

I imagine to do the full extent of business over the whole summer they probably do need to sell.

But they probably can get the ball rolling (as in make a signing or two )without needing to sell. At least that's what I'm assuming, I suspect it won't happen super fast anyway because of World Cup stuff.

I’m pretty sure Hopkinson himself came out in January and said we had money to spend.

Yes it totally depends on the scale of the rebuild.

Alikouche
Nusa

Camara
Kayode or other RB
Trafford

Just those five signings alone would move us so far forward even if we didn’t get the Forest or Sunderland style rebuild.

Trafford / Vlach

Kayode / Miley

Thiaw / Schar

Botman / Burn

Hall / Burn

Bruno / Ramsey

Tonali / Joelinton

Camara / Miley

Alikouche / Elanga

Nusa / Barnes

Woltemade
Osula

Wissa

Thats a 21 man squad. Healthier. Could handle less games next season and would perhaps cost less than 200m all in.

Could even promote a few youngsters or get a couple of freebies or backups

Still a poor choice of strikers imo.
