Feel like we have been saying this the last couple of summer windows tbh.

We can't do any rebuild without selling a crown jewel or two. Ffp makes it impossible to do so.

Slow and steady is the only way.

Said it before though, signings are not JUST about improving the squad. Obviously that's the primary objective but they also give existing players a lift, give us a new dimension that teams have to adapt to, and signal intent. I'm not suggesting we should just sign any old shit but signing a player with a high profile who doesn't necessarily 100% fit our blueprint would be a tactical move worth making, over signing no one at all.

I'm all for signing a 30 something player who's been there and done it, we've turned our noses up at a few players who've came in to top clubs over the years and given them a good season or two on the pitch.

Prior to PSR/FFP that is how I assumed we would close the gap with the top clubs, buying players who were coming into their later years but were still performing at top level. Think the 29-33yr old bracket who clubs would let go because no resale value. It's what Man City and Chelsea did during the early days of their takeover to attract talent that otherwise would go to CL clubs.

I still think we need to do that in the spine of the team. This year’s Moutinho or something. Just a cool, calm old head to help settle us down and play with his brain when we need to see a result out.

Been talking about Moutinho for years

FWIW I don’t think we have any appetite to sign experience, but I would like someone. Actually wanted Milner even though turns out he’s done nothing for Brighton.

We did it to a small extent trips no brainer despite his age, BDB for his prem league experience, chris wood then the extensions offered to older players who performed.

We just didn't permanently stick to that possibly due to PSR or an understanding writing off spends to get a good few years is unmaintainable.

January is going tobe disappointing just resigned to it ha

If miggy finally goes or trips forces a move away it will force our hand to act more but certainly not expecting the "wrongs" of the summer to be righted it's the wrong window for massive changes really.
