Staggered if we sign anyone of note this window.

 

In the summer we’ll see a few move on:

 

Wilson, Lascelles, Dubravka, Almiron, Targett etc

 

We’ll probably look to bring in four players: GK, CB, RW, backup striker. 
 

Given we’ll have not spent any decent money for knocking on two years then you’d hope they could be of decent value and quality.

I still think we might sign one player this Jan, but it's entirely dependent on somebody (particularly Miggy, but maybe also Longstaff too) moving out the other way.

 

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we don't want to let Dubravka go partly because it would necessitate signing Trafford now - when we'd rather move for a wide player if it became possible.

Yeah from all the noises coming out, we won't buy this window, but we should get some significant incomings in the summer.

I don't think Miggy can go without someone coming in. What happens if Murphy then gets injured?  Barnes clearly isn't trusted to play there and even then it leaves us really short on the front line.

Miggy out and a second level RW in would be perfect this window.

 

By second level, I mean a Bakayoko type signing.

 

Then eventually we'd need a top class one with Murphy eventually been fazed out probably end of next season.

Both of these have contracts through the summer of 2026 so a move would depend upon the player. They are 30 and 29 respectively so you would hope they want a final act to their career but who knows.  Miggy's agent has made some discouraging statements.

I know it's not the clubs wishes if you believe the crap from the summer that they want to invest the max limit of spending on the squad. Also the window isn't over for 3 weeks or so and something could happen. 

 

However standing still is torture as a fan ambitious clubs who can sell and buy get stronger. While we hope to hold on to who we have as the players get older and some will drop off from already raised levels as time goes on as a consequence of age or injury. 

 

I know it sounds ungrateful and entitled seen as I do like who we are as a side and results don't lie we play some excellent football just feel like one day we will hit a slump we can't play out of. 

 

Those hoping for a transformative summer due to keeping our hands in our pockets with signings so far for 2/3 windows.  I am not sure with the number of frees we have we will see the signings we need as we will once again need squad fillers and first 11 immediate quality.

Only "x" rumour I've seen is anderlect on loan assuming real he's got 2 years left i think and we would probably have to subsidise his wages.

 

Basically one of the biggest flops of the new ownership.

A club in our (PSR) position can't go out and pay 30-40m for a Bakayoko and then have him deputise for another RW. I know that's what we have essentially done with Barnes, but that luxury has also prevented us from upgrading a number of other key positions since that transfer window. And that's even ignoring that it's not even that likely that Bakayoko wants to join us, even as a first XI player, let alone if you tell him he's here to take Miggy's place in the squad. We are not Chelsea.

I see he only wants to join a CL club, but is his stock that high right now? Hes not on fire or anything in an average league.

I wouldn't know, but he doesn't have to move, does he? I mean, he's playing a decent amount in a team walking the Dutch league and doing fairly well in CL. It's a bit "Arsenal should just go and get Isak" to suggest he should be chomping at the bit to join us when he may be enjoying playing at his current club and having the self belief to play for a team that has a better chance of winning silverware, especially if in the same breath it is being suggested that he would be seen as a reserve player here

I was just asking since you know the Dutch league better than most in here, and if his CL talking was...Im too good for anything else, or hes enjoying playing for PSV and that they are in the CL so why change?

I think both. He clearly isn’t interested in moving sideways even at an undoubtedly higher wage, so fair play to him I say.
