NUFC Transfer Rumours

We don’t know anything yet re BM.  I don’t think Man Utd are in a position to do anything else without sales.  Let’s just see

Their local daily mail correspondent reckons they have 125 million plus sales. Guessing that included Cunha.

Wouldn't worry about Man U spending. Same every year, spend a fortune predict they'll have a better season and literally get worse.

Clubs run terribly from top to bottom so i don't get the narrative they'll be back to being a top 4 side any time soon.

I would love both tbh.

Would take them both. Although Ramos is likely to be too much as he can be a starter somewhere decent.

Liverpool are considering Ramos. He indeed wants first team football, after not getting the opportunities at PSG since signing there.

£60m for vast majority of players isn’t good value. Yes we’d want that, doesn’t mean they’re worth it. Once you are getting to that point, they need to be near best in their class where similar players are unattainable and Mbeumo isn’t that for me (like Gordon wouldn’t be for the value we’d want).

Other season people were getting proper up on Bowen, it’s not much different IMO. There’s far better value out there for RW.

When it comes to closing gap on the teams above, adding another goalscorer from RW isn’t the money breaking club record deal / wage we have to make. A better player there in terms of eye for a pass / ball retention / progression than Murphy, yes, but having a top CB, better GK and another top CM are the key positions (with a back up ST). We are good at creating chances under Howe, our issue is conceding chances. We rarely look like winning games 1-0 if needed, always require us needing to score at least 2, maybe 3 in away games.

153 goals in 76 games. Superb. 109 goals conceded in 76 games. Not superb.

We've needed a right winger for at least five years, it's a top priority. Murphy probably won't repeat his performance this year, so we need a top-class right winger.

A top center back is also a priority.

The other positions you mentioned are only possible if we sell a player first. We're stacked at goalkeeper and central midfield.

Arsenal scored 88 and 91 goals the last two seasons, so they didn't bother buying a striker. What happened this year? Man City scored tons of goals, but still got Haaland.

Let's be like Man City, not Arsenal.

We absolutely need a right winger. And remember, we struggled to score and win without Isak this season.

If we go into next season with Murphy as our only proper RW option something will have gone badly wrong this summer. As you say we’re needed a top RW for years.

I guess the main problem is we're both shopping in the same pool of players.

It seems to my simpleton's mind like we should be able to do plenty of business. We have sold quite a lot in the past 12-18 months (ASM, Minteh, Anderson, Kelly, Almiron).

We can look to do more selling now, with longstaff and willock.

We can get even more wages off our books, with Wilson and a few others if we wish.

We have not spent much at all recently.

We have merchandise cash from a cup win.

We have cash from the Ashworth release clause fiasco.

We have significant prospects for 30-60m of champs league revenue.

And we can even potentially bank on selling one of Gordon or Isak in 12-18 months, allowing us to temporarily fall behind PSR a bit if needed.

So the time to spend is now. We should easily be able to spend 150m plus.

A player for 60m

One for 40m

One for 30m

2-3 for 15m each (this is crucial, for future financial health - Brentford styles).

We must go for Mbeumo, Geuhi (or if not, another midfielder that Eddie rates), trafford, and then 2-3 well-scouted 22 yo types to fill out remaining squad needs.

If we don't, then missing UCL again next year does just as much financial harm.

Not quite that simple. What if we have to pay close on 200kpw for the 60mill player. That raises the wage expectation on not only future incomings but contract negotiations with current players.

Newcastle have checked on 19-year old Rennes centre back Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal who has starred for Morocco U20s.

Boudlal is yet to make his senior debut for Rennes and spent the second half of the season on loan at Ligue 2 Amiens.

Don’t know why but I don’t feel like we are closing on any targets now

I’m not confident of us getting anyone in early. It’s no coincidence that the richest clubs are able to make their moves as soon as the season ends. Take Mbeumo, would he sign for us before he knows whether Man U will offer him one of their £300k per week deals? I doubt it.

Bowen is not the right age but he’s well worth £60m like.

Class player, be perfect for us.

Just the expense on a 28 year old i can't see the club doing it.

Man U squad now worth less than ours according to Transfermarkt's guideline numbers. Not bad considering where we were at the takeover.

Rightly or wrongly there's no way Eddie Howe is ever going to be signing a 5 ft 8 Korean floating playmaker type for the RW slot unless the club does it for some marketing purposes over his head.

We'll be getting a physical animal there who will run themselves into the ground, no doubt about it. I'm sure there will be an improvement on the ability level too but we won't be getting the kind of technician some people are seemingly hoping for.

Presumably we can justify Sela paying us more if we're in at least eight CL games. The same goes for other sponsors with links to Saudi, such as Noon.

A few mill here and there will help the kitty nicely.

To be fair, we only found out we'd be playing CL football on the last day of the season. Being a step below these mega bucks clubs means players would have wanted to know which European competition we'd be in, so we're a bit behind on the negotiations.
