They will be determined to go and trying to cling onto two underperforming players instead of taking the £160m will end up looking terrible. Do you really think anyone would spend 80 on Gordon ???? Just because you scammed Liverpool with Isak doesn't mean miracles happen every year. If Gordon is worth 80 then Hall (who for me in two years, no more, will be the strongest English player) is worth 140 already now.

Mid 20s. 4 years left on his contract. If anyone wants Gordon they'll have to cough up.

There are some qualities in Gordon that I appreciate, but some of his flaws are terrible... no one will ever spend that amount on him. We signed him for £40m and he's a way better player now than he was when he was at Everton. If anyone does come sniffing though, it's only right we ask for an eye watering amount. Whether you rate him or not he's one of our/Howe's most important players, and so we shouldn't make it easy for anyone to sign him. We won't be selling for anything like £50m and making a puny £10m profit on him that's for sure.

Some are born leaders. But most get it through experience. We'll be moving to a model where we sell our best players and selling most players at peak value/age. Trippier, Burn, Schar and co. will be off in a couple of seasons. Realistically we will likely sell more than one of Bruno, Joelinton, Hall, Barnes, Gordon etc. At some point - we will need to buy experience. Even Arsenal have bought experience in Norgaard. Haven't done the maths but £60m would be £40m+ accounting profit as a rough estimate. And about £7-12m in wages. That doesn't get us terribly far if his replacement costs £30m-50m mind. That's £10m-18m per season in costs.

Rich
If we’re going radical, I’d shift Livramento, Tonali, and Gordon for exorbitant fees, release Krafth and Targett, renew Trippier and Schär for a season as backups, peddle Willock and Wissa, and obviously not sign Ramsdale. I’d look at Bruno and Miley as starting CMs, with Ramsey and Joelinton fighting for the spot beside Bruno, sign a 10 to play off Woltemade, and get a starting GK, RB, and RW in, with a younger LW to compete with Barnes and an experienced striker who’s not a shit midget to push Woltemade. We could do with a cheap and cheerful utility defender an’ all. New GK New RB Thiaw Botman Hall Guimaraes Miley New RW New AM Barnes Woltemade Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, New LB, Ramsey, Joelinton, Murphy, Elanga, Osula, New ST as backups. I don’t love Barnes, but he guarantees goals and assists and might flourish if seen as the main man on the left flank. Plus, I’m certain he’s the exact type of profile Woltemade needs around him. We all know his faults, but the bottom line is he is an England international, still well in his 20's, he has 22 goal contributions in 45 games, Champions League pedigree, likely to feature in the World Cup and 4 years left on his contract. That kind of player, faults or no faults, has great output, is still young, has PL & English tax added on and a decent sized contract to buy out. Like it or not, his value is at least around £80m, can you find something similar for cheaper elsewhere? I direct you to the Transfer Rumours and Eddie Howe threads. Rich
I think there’ll be a market for Gordon, especially if he has a good World Cup. He’ll be straight off an’ all.

Well I wouldn’t spend that much on him, but the market is massively inflated and the clubs that have been linked to him (Arsenal and Liverpool) have no real financial restrictions. I wouldn’t expect him to leave for anything lower than £70m at least. Edited March 25 by Kimbo

RobsonsWonderland
People forget how mad the market can be. I think 80 million is the minimum fee Pepe, sesko, Sancho, Nunez, Anthony were all 80+ Grealish 117 million. Once you get to those figures you just make the value up.
