NUFC Transfer Rumours

We need a RW IMO, and that might mean selling Murphy, which I would be a bit sad about. We can give Elanga another season and try to turn him into an effective push and run winger, but he has serious flaws that it’s too late to do anything about.

Murphy HAS to go - along with a few others - no sentiments to anyone this summer - a full reset is required

I agree, but chances are he won’t be going anywhere.

That's been said so many times about players who, within a year, are playing for Yeovil reserves on loan and not getting a game

Also usually said about players who end up being amazing, so I'm gonna choose to be optimistic.

He’ll be gone - IF we don’t sign a left footed right winger then that will be negligence from the club and a complete disregard to how incompetent our RW has become

Any chance if we give Arsenal Gordon they'll give us a free run at Kvaratskhelia :bluestar:

Judging by last season with Liverpool, arsenal would buy both knowing our luck

Selling Murphy would be ridiculous, he's worth far more to us as a squad player than what we would get by way of a likely lowish transfer fee.  He's a still far better option than Elanga.  And he's one of our own.

If Graham Bailey is having a stopped clock moment and being right about something, I confidently predict that by 2028 he will be either sold to Real Madrid for in excess of £100 million or on loan at Panathinaikos.

There is no middle ground.

Didn't realise Bailey was that good at playing football.

Murphy has peaked at the level he has - we’ve extracted everything out of his talents - we have to move on from players like him and Burn

Yes in hindsight Elanga looks like a mistake - but given his age - there’s possible scope to improve and turn things around

RW is a necessity - added to this you can’t keep players out of pure sentiment now - the technical level of player has to improve

Has to be better at playing the game than he writes about it

Not a rumour but I wonder if we should buy one of these worldie veteran forwards that could be available at the end of the season

Let's not forget he had 23 goals contributions last year.  Which is phenomenal.

He hasn't had a good striker to work with all season.

Yeah, getting rid of Murphy is risky. He’s old I don’t think I’ve seen any physical decline. Just no one to get on the end of his crosses.

On the other hand we desperately need another RW, who is better than what we have and it’s too soon to give up on Elanga.

I love Jacob Murphy as a character but he can’t be starting games for us in 26/27.

You can’t sell all of your squad players but he’s the most limited imo. He tries hard and has been a brilliant servant but we should be entertaining any reasonable offers for him and Willock.

Wissa we have to just pray someone overseas gives us some of the money back or hope one of the relegated teams have a bite.

The time is probably right for Trippier and Pope to move on but I’d keep Schar about.

Newcastle have earmarked Arsenal's Ben White, 28 as a potential replacement for fellow English defender Kieran Trippier, 35. (Sports Boom)

Sports Boom? :memeyeah:

I really don't think we'll see a turnover of players like Sunderland/Forest so if that's the case then Murphy probably stays for another season

We have quite a bit to do elsewhere as a priority

We can have a full reset and if that’s the case we need to give Howe time to train the new players.

and imo I think if we keep Howe we won’t do it. He simply won’t want to let anyone in the core leadership group to go. In fact I think he might be missing Lacelles already

I really need to switch off this summer. Can’t stand the sight of Jacobs, Romano etc

So hard to switch off. Even during the season when there's games going on I'm still reading this shit. Wasting energy and time on worrying about who'll leave. The only real option is to just avoid sites like this and reddit for 2 months. I do wonder what I'd have felt if I hadn't been so obsessive last summer.

I could see Ben White down the Union. Perfect replacement.

All our worst players are seemingly in this group

Gillespie - Ruddy - Trippier - Burn - Murphy

(Willock)

Only 1 survives as 4th choice and that’s Burn - I don’t even want him here next season as he is regressing week by week

These players are for me, Eddies comfort blanket - makes zero sense keeping hold of all of them - we have to move on from this strategy now

Mega old school was nowt from the end of the season until the return to training which was later back then.

I don't really disagree with your assessment but "Eddie's comfort blanket" is just silly when none of them were meant to be regular starters at this point in our progress.

Including 2 training goalkeepers is a bit odd also. They're not really relevant to anything.
