But have been poor for quite some time now. He didn't really seem to be near the cup celebrations and has kept himself quiet recently. Barnes has took his place with ease and has a way better goal return than Gordon. I reckon he'll be away in the summer

And they’re in the CL Semi finals and have been semi challenging for the league 3 seasons in a row. they ain’t any better than us. We’ve seen it. We’ve beaten them multiple times. But they’ve got more depth. And of course they’ve got a bigger wage bill. But we can take but strides forward next season I hope. Will get plenty of minutes each no bother Agreed, but I think Gordon could do with showing he can work as hard on the right as the left though. From my eye he's never looked like he's really put in a shift on that side and played with a bit of a hump, but I could be reading too much into it. Having the flexibility of moving between Barnes/Gordon/Murphy across both wings with the potential of Isak dropping off with Gordon up front could be an absolute nightmare for teams to manage in man-marking systems. CPL Posted Wednesday at 21:37 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:37 Gordon is still ahead of Barnes for me. It's crazy how people's opinions are swayed by a few games. Gordon is a big player and steps up in the big games with a great record against the so called big 6. Not discounting Barnes from anything but the true test will be Saturday away from home vs Villa. It is certainly Barnes' position for now and Gordon needs to force his way back in.

I'm not seeing the top clubs in Europe wanting him. They wouldn't spend loads on that type of player, especially after this season.

PRL Posted Wednesday at 21:42 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:42 21 minutes ago, The College Dropout said: I think the best squads have legit 15 minimum proper first team players. Look at arsenals defensive options Timber Gabriel Saliba White Calafiori These are all players that think they should start regularly. Then you also have Skelly a top talent then actual backup players like The Ukrainian lad Kiwior In midfield if everyone is fit Merino wouldn’t start. Can do the same thing for Villa atm. The quality of the squad is deep. that’s the level we need to get too. We need another purple CM imo. Or at least close to Joelinton level. We just need more quality. As much as we can get. I mean Botman, Hall, Tino, Schar, Burn have reasonable claim of matching that 5, without including Trippier. Not sure that’s the best example of their strength versus us, when we will also most likely bring another top draw CB in too.
The College Dropout Posted Wednesday at 21:44 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:44 Would people agree that Barnes is our second best finisher? And best finisher off his weaker foot?

Ive said this a lot recently. I think we can win the league. Or at least get 80 something points if we can add a few more purples. We’ve got players like Isak, Bruno and Tonali that should be winning major titles. Let’s add to them. 3 purples and 2-3 frees & loans (the likes of Walker-Peters) to pad the squad out and we'll push for the title next season. The strength in depth in defence has been crucial for us tbf. RB, CB specifically we have multiple genuine first team options. We don’t have that strength in depth in midfield or attack (bar LW)

Rather keep Trippier and Krafth than get KWP personally. It’s midfield we need a purple/Joelinton type and a backup. Longstaff/Willock shit ain’t gonna cut it with 10 CL games. Even when he decided he needed to go down the outside and shoot with his wrong foot, he did it quickly and cleanly.

I trust him more than anyone else in one on one situations especially, as he is just going to slot it away in a no nonsense fashion. Isak can sometimes be guilty of getting a bit too cute. Having said that though, Isak is more capable of pulling something extraordinary off. Amazing to have them both in the first team. It's a heck of a lot for teams to deal with.
