Newcastle United 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur (13/04/24) | Reaction: pg 36

Spurs keeper leads the league in stopping high quality shots, a stat called "post-shot expected goals". He probably deserves some of the praise that was going Van Der Ven's way.

Spurs have had a good season, but have ridden their luck to have 60 points after what was 31 and now 32 games. We just tonked them with a new formation and a few second stringers in there.

They could have made more about the haptic shirts we've pioneered and all the good work on them too, if it'd been one of the red team they'd have been spunking over it.

100% correct! Not even a mention. If Liverpool had come up with the idea they'd wanking them off past midnight

Newcastle United Denmark gathered in Århus today for the game. Can you spot the former Newcastle player? :)

Saw this on my timeline as well.

Saw yesterday that this Spurs side are on exactly the same amount of points after the same amount of games as they were under Conte.

Seems like Ange has changed the style but failed to really change the results all that much. Of course the fans are happier with what they are seeing, which is always a massive factor in any comparison.

Baffles me the amount of times this happens and the opposition don't adjust in any way.

Good for us, but if I was a Spurs today I'd be so angry that it was never addressed during the 90+ mins when it clearly wasn't working.

Especially when that long ball between our CB’s done us a good few times early on. Yet they still insisted on overplaying and giving our press and crowd the encouragement they needed.

Remember, early doors, when Spuds went down to 9 men. Afterwards Postacogogogogluuu saying they would play the same system even if they went down to 5.

Genius, apparently

Yesterday’s performance shows that there’s real reason for optimism next season. Elliot Anderson looking good, Krafth playing well, Murphy doing a job as a squad player.

If you bring Pope, Tonali, Joelinton, Livramento, Trippier (assuming he stays), a fit Willock, a new striker who’ll likely replace Wilson, a new RW, new Cb, back into the equation……..

Odd to have so little possession but have a much higher expected goals stat. It looked that way as well. We left a couple of goals out there tbh. 6-0 wouldn’t have felt like a robbery.

Not sure if already covered already but the interview with maddison was spot on really they weren't brave enough really. Aload of possession simply passing it back and sideways, not penetrative at all and had our habit of trying to walk walk the ball in the net. Man marking them may have thrown them off their game but they appeared to have no answer.

Benny Kristiensen on there?

As for the match - watched at work. We thoroughly enjoyed it - P was buzzing for ages, as we sang and hugged when the goals went in. :) Newcastle were terrific and executed their gameplan to perfection. Anthony Gordon and Isak were world class yesterday - just tore through Spurs at will.

Always class to send the cockney bastards back down south with their tail between their legs, after a pasting! :coolsmiley:

Just seen they are reimbursing their fans, again. The same as last season.

Spurs mate messaged me saying he might start going for the day out on the beers in the Toon. Money back on the ticket
