I don’t think there is necessarily a lack of alignment. Howe seems to fully accept our PSR position and he’s always been good at coaching and improving non-star players. So where would the lack of alignment be?

Like we’ve discussed on here loads of times, most of the chat around Howe’s need for control is absolutely nonsense and completely made up.

I don’t think Mitchell would authorise Barnes, Tonali type signings or the Joelinton extension.  Little scope for increasing transfer value for all 3 players.  Even the Hall and Livra signings the fees were steep. I also think he may have wanted a different profile of player - more technical less physical.  And deprioritise PL experience.

I think Howe is willing to trade and spend less money.  But he will want the type of player he wants. He and Mitchell seemed to only agree on a small pool of players.

I wonder if any of his youth signings turn out hits. Will be interesting to say the least.

The shit show last summer really was unprofessional - be surprised if he doesn't end up at man red tbf

Well in that case it’s good he’s out. Tonali, Tino and Hall were incredible signings. Let’s hope the replacement has a bit more sense.

Disappointing doesn’t seem to have stayed anywhere very long, far from convinced this is a good thing and not keen on Howe having total control.

Most managers are short sighted as their positions are vulnerable, should always be somebody detached with a long term plan in place to oversee a strategy.

Disappointing and hope we get a top drawer replacement, history tells us this appointment will be months away though shit timing.

Howe will not have total control FFS, they’ll replace Mitchell with someone else.

Months away and this is a huge summer.

jesus christ, dude. If there is any time to be relaxed, it's May 27th after getting a champions league spot.

If August comes and we don't have any incomings that improve the first 11, and no sporting director in sight, then by all means be worried.

Do you think he'll scrap the reserves like Kevin 😂

With respect I disagree.

It may be the case that Howe wants to grab the mantle and get those couple of signings he feels he needs to make us a real force on a couple of fronts. I think after the season he’s had, if he wants to maintain the momentum then all credit to him. He’s got enough credit in the bank to at least try. And if Mitchell was trying to dampen that with his own long term plans then I’m sorry but I’m fully backing Howe. The board clearly have.

I do think we need someone involved in recruitment who can be more ruthless at selling players i.e. Lloyd Kelly would he have been sold if Mitchell wasn't here?

All about opinions but think it’s a blow seemed to be doing some great work with these young lads signing and most seemed to be aligned with taking a new approach to transfers after 3 windows because we couldn’t afford to be spending huge sums due to PSR.

His PR wasn’t great at the start but if the plan is to spend 100 million plus on Guehi, Mbuemo don’t think many can complain if we end up back at square one with PSR.

Get Directors of football to fuck. When I was a lad the manager made the signings, end of story. It's him that's got to utilise them anyway.

It's like some cunt coming into my house uninvited, going into my kitchen and making a veggie casserole for my tea when I'm perfectly capable of making the spag bol I actually want by myself. GET THE FUCK OOT OF MA HOOSE YA WANKBAG!!!!!!

Even worse if the uninvited guest is bald.

Could be that officially he's still here and technically on board with everything but in reality he's already been cut out of the loop totally and things are happening without him being involved at all? Who knows.

It seems very sudden and unexpected but I've got a feeling it was decided a while ago and kept under wraps until the season finished, wouldn't surprise me if they've already got someone lined up but probably feel the need to wait a couple of weeks to make it look like a bit more authentic as opposed to knifing him and replacing him before actually announcing it?

It does suggest that the communications and structure at the top of the club aren't as good as they need to be though. We've been through a bit of a churn of directors etc and it's only been a few years now. Decisions, announcements and communications with fans seem long and drawn out due to maybe a lack of clarity of roles or reluctance to make a decision or getting things signed off or whatever. They're delivering on the pitch regardless but they could do with getting their shit in a pile off the pitch too. It seems way too clunky and difficult atm

This is probably insane but… bring back Staveley as CEO? She seemed very good at setting an overall positive, progressive culture of excellence for the club. Then she and Eddie jointly lead recruitment of a DOF they both feel

comfortable with?

Not sure she’d do it but I honestly think it could be brilliant for the club.

She lost her job for reason. Need to move on.
