Aye your right, communication from Mitchell is terrible

editing this as it was unnecessarily arsey.

Finishing 7th, not strengthening the squad and expecting European football is silly imo.

Likewise the financial difference between CL and the others is ginormous. With a realistic chance of CL don’t you go for it?

I dunno.  I’m Raw agter a defeat.

It is, but that’s been the approach thus far.

It’s not his job to communicate with you, Ben.

Let him get on with it, it will all be fine.

And it’s you’re*.

I'm not expecting a phone call but I'm perfectly entitled to form my own opinions based on the evidence in front of me

While I agree with the first paragraph being the strategy we are following - I don’t get it. What’s the point of keeping the band together one more season and then not going for it?

I’ve been more keen to see what we do off the pitch than on it. Because it doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Me?  I’d sign someone now - and sell Joelinton by June to Saudi to make it work. Or do some creative to get us revenue.

If we follow the strategy I think we are.  There’s only 1 player we could sell that would guarantee rebuild money.  The others are less certain to get north of £80m.  I don’t know how much headspace getting rid of the dead wood gets us and half of those will need replacing.

I just suggested this in the Joelinton thread and came in here to see this.. Definitely in agreement

Though I wonder who'd we replace with as Longstaff / Willock are poor but we wouldn't want to break the bank when RW, CB, keeper etc are urgent

If we can miraculously win the league cup, I think that criticism is tempered. Imploding is the NUFC way, but we can hope.

Honestly, it’s actually nice to be having these conversations.

If we win the league cup - the project has succeeded imo [emoji38]

Inexcuseable not to strenghten the squad now that we were in such a good position for CL. We could have always made some sales in the summer before the ending of the accounting period like last year. The difference cant have been that big considering the cost would just have been half a year of contract cost and 1/10 of the transfer fee in amortization of any potential signing.

I dont think we are going to have a choice other than selling one of the purples this summer. Our squad other than the first XI may be one of the worst ones in the PL.

Paul Mitchell thread top again. Yes,we must have got beat. This thread went missing for 9 games over Christmas. Funny that.

The transfer window wasn't open then either tbf...

Its hard to pass another transfer window with no significant squad improvements and not be asking questions of the guy whose job that is.

We literally can’t spend anymore money, I think Howes made that perfectly clear

We've spent next to no money in a year and a half. At some point that excuse wears thin.

Yet we were fine to bid £55m for Guehi. Either the money is there or we were going to sell someone.

not signing a first team player for 3 windows is not going to take us forward.

Sorry, you think the best approach going forward would be to put us in the same position as last year where we were desperately trying to fire sale our players before 30 June?

I’m glad you’re not in charge.

Do you think this is how the club want to operate? Or do you think they’re being held back by the rules?

So if we can't spend money, why bring in Paul Mitchell in the summer? What's his job if he's not signing or selling any players?

He’s got loads of jobs, go back and read the content from when he signed.

When we are/were in a fantastic position to challenge for CL then yes. A £50m offensive signing could have meant the difference and we would only have to make an extra profit of around £10m in the summer.

The club would fold in a year.
