Howe made Lascelles and Krafth into decent defenders - something tells me he'll be able to sort him out. He's not Guehi levels, but Howe will get something out of him and if the price is right then fair enough. Still want another 3-4 signings though.

Trust me....Musah, not Mensah, is an absolute disgrace. If you decide to buy him, I'll personally come to your house and I'll cook for you a fabulous carbonara.... for a month!!!

I'll do it for all the 50,000 at St.James too.

@Minhosa let's go 50/50 and get this deal done. Carbonara the next time I'm over mate.

I love 90s footballers confirming our transfer dealings. Next, Franck LeBoeuf tells us the bid has been rejected.

We are then informed by David Hirst that no bid was ever made.

"Why are we bidding for PL players? They come at a premium, the cartel will gazunp us anyway. We should buy the dip with young European talent."

What I will say is that I still find it refreshing that the club do at least know which positions we need to fill and attempt to fill them. Quite rare in my life that you feel the club are actually going after the positions we need at pretty much exactly the time we need them.

We can't get them to join obviously, but that's the next step in our evolution.

I still feel like Thiaw is the type you spend 25-30m on and that he hopefully develops into the player you want him to be in a year+ time. So this one feels more like the Bruno/Botman bracket, although he needs to obv develop under Howe.

If it's one thing I know, our ability to turn any defender from 1 level to another level or 2 or 3 is nearly perfect. Lascelles, Krafth, Tino, Hall, Burn, Schar, and Botman are better players after Howe. Targett was there too until his body failed him.

Which is the model that has worked for us.

Shopping in £60m+ markets means the players want wages worthy of that value and the agents push that rhetoric hard - resulting in everything we see this summer.

Happy to go back to the old model (Thiaw fits that) if it means adding the depth we desperately need.
