Will Osula

Recommended Posts

Played a square ball against Brentford I think which cost us a goal which I feel could be an indicator as to his lack of minutes. Murphy did 2 on Sunday before he was hooked (one leading to the goal & the other a schar yellow card).

Really excited to see what Osula can do next year.

Considering gordon barely comes back to help the defender there's no excuse really. The amount of times we needed a goal to get back in a game or to tip the balance we've not used his assets.

I know he (Gordon) is our outlet, but it was a case of Jack Jogback yesterday. Everton would have the ball around our box, and you'd see him enter the picture trotting back over the halfway line.

Make it clear I'm talking about Gordon

We’ve been one of the best teams at winning points from losing positions.

When I say games where we need something different I mean brighton away, fulham at home West ham at home games like that.

this lad seems to have no fear at all.

no nerves yesterday.

didnt let the occasion get to him.

got the ball and just attacked.

Which was exactly what was needed against a packed defence. Having some pace also added to his threat, at least he gave the Everton defenders something to worry about.

I know we don't like to question Eddie on this forum but seeing Wilson lumbering about the pitch doing fuck all while this guy sits on the bench is very questionable.
Every time he comes on he makes something happen.

I still think Howe’s right - I haven’t seen him make much happen tbh.  He’s a fair way short - I would send him on loan to a second or third tier club next season and see if the lad can kick on.  He can’t be backup to Isak next season.

He's scored really good goals (in the cup and the league), created chances, and scared Everton's defence more in 5 minutes than the rest of the team did in 90.

He came to us from the Championship because he wanted to step up. I can't see him being happy going back there on loan, and rightly so. I'm not suggesting he should be starting but he should be getting a lot more minutes than he is based on the glimpses we've seen.

He should have been getting Wilson’s minutes.

Don't be silly, second or third tier

He just needs some more coaching from Howe and internalise the game plan more.

He's meant to be part of a 3 striker rotation I'm sure, not direct backup to Isak. He was never signed to be second choice straight away.

I’m happy with Howe coaching him of course, but I don’t see that the lad would be harmed by six months dropping a division.  He can’t be backup next season, we need a better second striker

Some people just don't like the lad it seems.

To say he's shown nothing when he's played is absolute bollocks.

Wilson reminds me of cisse before he left he was finished couldn't do the job he was asked to do properly which in turn hurts us as an effective way to score goals.

We have a very hesitant manager in trusting youth to do a job better than his trusted lot who make errors all the time but still play.

Just say Isak gets injured at the start of next season - do you think that Osula can step in?

I think he’s definitely shown flashes and looks like he could be a player so I think it’s unfair to say he’s useless etc. he certainly looked lively when he came on against Everton. He’s fast, strong, quick turns, must be very difficult to play against. If we’re relying on him as a backup option we’re knackered though.

Not to the required levels we would’ve needed, but would’ve been a better option than Wilson due to the pace / physical threat, and the bit of unknown that makes CBs think twice.

As season has gone on, it’s been made clear to me that Howe sees him as a winger anyway, so we will sign a ST. Then it’s Osula / New RW, with Murphy eventually a back up RB / RWB as the squad evolves.
