Colos Short and Curlies
If we start at a £69m loss as our going rate (basically Adidas equalling Champions League revenue) we are adding in the sale of Kelly and Miggy (probably £10m PSR profit as there will have been upfront costs with Kelly) and I think the Ashworth money comes into this year as well, so somewhere between £2m and £5m there we end up with a PSR loss of around £45m. Our position for the end of this year is then -54+9-45= £90m but more importantly we start 2025/2026 at 9-45= £36m loss which allows us a £69m loss in 2025/2026 (ignoring UEFA rules here). That's £24m of additional amortisation and wages so I'd say between £90m and £100m in transfer fees. You can then add on whatever the expected earnings will be from Europe, get Champions league and we can probably double that, Europa I guess we'd work on getting to the final which gives us a further £20m-£30m to spend. So basically anywhere between £90m and £200m depending on where we finish
Colos Short and Curlies
13 minutes ago, Sibierski said: Only just made enough because it meant we sold a highly rated youngster in Anderson for essentially £15m. That's not a canny strategy, that was a scramble where we were always going to come out 2nd best. Obviously getting to June was not a great strategy but once we got there the gap was bridged with a (yes high potential) winger and a midfielder who played the sum of 10 games last season. The alternative was a Bruno, Gordon, Isak. They ultimately played the right card at the time, as much as it sucks that we had to sell either one of them
The Butcher
I don't think the people in charge deserve much credit for saving their arses with the Anderson and Minteh sales. They fucked up badly.

They fucked up badly. To an extent, but it’s exaggerated. We made some great signings and made up for the overspend by losing two players who may never have made it here. Not ideal but not a disaster. You could argue that we should’ve just bought cheap players since the takeover I guess, but I like the players we bought. We should all just agree that all of the following is true and then never talk about this again: On the whole our business since the takeover has been spectacular We put ourselves in a terrible position through some combination of hubris, gambling, poor planning, and bad luck We avoided a points deduction and selling a key player at a discount, but we were forced to sell two young, solid players. This did not help our wage situation and we had to take on a useless player who we'll be paying for for years. It was not the worst (or second) worst case scenario; it was also not good. On the whole our business since the takeover has been spectacular
Fak
What does that cup win add to our coffers? If anything. I suspect next to nowt.

Sibierski
This surely has to be a catalyst now for coming months to announce new big sponsorship deals, training ground plans, stadium plans etc. Ride a continuous wave all way to start of next season with some new purples/kids to add to the CHAMPION ranks. greydos
Now we’ve won a trophy, the club should just spend what it likes on players and spend even more taking the rules down. I don’t care about a points dedication. Let’s win everything. Trophies. Football regulation. Cartels. Win & destroy it all!!
SteV
Not the whole story obviously, but our finances do look in reasonable shape based on this, especially if we can get CL. Still baffled as to how Villa are going to meet this UEFA wage ratio, despite the money they’ll have brought in this season.
The College Dropout
Villa will have raised an additional £150m in CL money and player sales this season. They’ll be fine. Manchester United have shrinking revenues - no? Last season they were in the CL. High amortisation costs too.

Appreciate that might be why they’ve got for players on loan in the last window, so they’re not stuck unable to afford wages, should they not make CL again. Perhaps their current approach should be viewed as a relatively risk-free short term gamble, but not one that’s likely to progress them if it doesn’t come off. Anyway, probably veering off ‘NUFC-specific’ here….

Anyway, probably veering off ‘NUFC-specific’ here…. We are largely in the same boat. We need short term results to increase medium term revenues. I think we both need 2 seasons in the CL out of 3 to keep the team together and keep building strongly. successove yeara without CL will mean taking steps backwards. Aston Villa’s main shirt sponsor is worth 6m per year and ends next year. Ours is worth 25. Top 6 is 50m minimum. If they can get 2 CL Campigns in 3 seasons could they land a sponsorship closer to £40m per year? Can they expand the stadium? even if their plan works they’ll need to continue to produce good academy players and wheel + deal. Same with us. If we don’t succeed now, how can we hold on to our best players and build on them? We can’t we would have sell - if not this summer then next. If we Dont get CL football this year or next we’ll need to cash in on our best players Edited 19 hours ago by The College Dropout

Two seasons in the champions league won't bet them sponsors which are willing to pay so much imo. Look at the struggles Chelsea face who are still a much bigger brand than Villa imo. The College Dropout
Chelsea are doing illegal things imo. I expect Villa to be able to at least double their main sponsor if they win the FA Cup this season. They signed that deal after relegation battle seasons.
