Pope

Trips Schar Burn Krafth

Almiron Bruno Longstaff Gordon

Isak

Isak to limp off in the 60th minute, Pope to pop his should again before half time

1-2 loss.

I've set my expectations nice and low.

Can’t see us starting with ten men mind.

Think I had too much Sunday night whisky to notice [emoji38] I'm sure a week of potential training ground incidents or players falling off a step ladder at home could leave us with just 10 to choose from.

What I expect to see...

Pope

Trippier Schar Burn Hall

Murphy Bruno Longstaff Joe Gordon

Isak

Defence should be solid enough, but it's infuriating to still have that right side.

That would be a good 10 man lineup for sure.

Not sure we will see it but I would quite like to see:

------------------------Pope-------------------------

Livra-------Schar----------Kelly-----------Hall

--Longstaff-------Bruno---------Big Joe----

-Murphy------------Isak----------Gordon---

(might want Burn in there just for the height issue...)

It's such a shame that he will pick Longstaff over Willock.

Thankfully with Joelinton and Bruno in the side our midfield will dominate most anyway.

Fuck me, I can't wait to see the strength on our bench.

Barnes, Osula, Willock, Miggy and 2 or 3 decent defenders depending on who he chooses.

That should be the difference this season with no European football, our bench should be much stronger

some of our benches last season were atrocious.

Howe has a much better squad at his disposal and no European football. Excited!

Whilst I think Willock is better and more talented than Longstaff (albeit they are different players)

Both Willock and Joelinton have never looked good on the right of a midfield imo

Also, Willock only featured in 2 of the preseason games, right? I think Longstaff is far more ready for a starting spot at the moment. Only discussion is who plays RB (Tino/Tripps)and who plays with Fab at CB (Kelly/Burn). Other than that the team picks itself really.

Are we absolutely sure that Howe will start Hall?

What position has Kelly played in his pre season games?

Kelly has started CB in all his pre-season games, hasn't featured at LB at all.

Cheers, well I guess that answers that then.

Seems highly unlikely that Burn will go to left back.

I'd love Howe to give the nod to Kelly (CB) and Hall (LB) in the first game.

Again, it's just nice to have options.

The pre-season CB pairings have been Krafth-Burn and Schar-Kelly - Schar is pretty much a nailed on starter (if he's fit for Saturday that is) so would think that if Howe had no intention to start Kelly at CB with Schar then he'd have gone with Schar-Burn for the pre-season game against Brest.

(Of course though, all could change if the new CB signing is sorted this week).

I think it's fair to say Guehi won't start regardless if he signs before Saturday.

Howe could quite easily play the old switcheroo with regards to Burn and Kelly but my instinct is that Howe really likes Kelly. Apart from in the air, he's a better player than Burn in every other area.

Based on pre-season they play a strict 3-4-3 and will come here looking for a 0-0 draw or a 1-0 win. Don’t think it’s a bad idea to start Trippier, Burn and Willock in this game.

433: Pope, Trippier, Schär, Burn, Hall, Willock, Bruno, Joelinton, Murphy, Isak, Gordon

Trippier and Willock in for creativity.

I have a feeling it'll be Kelly or Burn at left back too, with the other at CB. Hope I'm wrong.

None of them have played at LB during preseason though. I'm confident it'll be Hall at LB.

I don’t understand this fear TBH, Hall has been one of our best players since he got his main chance.
