They are on par in this area.

Elanga is faster and more explosive. I reckon he'll be better technically as well as it turns out, I know Murphy can strike the ball nicely, but his first touch is often bad, and he doesn't carry the ball well.

Yes he’s more explosive and quicker as I mentioned earlier. I was talking about them being on par when it comes to technical ability.

Going on record here as saying I hope we sign Elanga and I think he'll be very good for us if he does sign. However, we absolutely have to get a 10 in if he does come

Yep. I’d be more open to it then. Would prefer a different profile than Elanga still. But I’d be much more ok with it. But not for much more money than the 45m, absolutely not.

He’s on holiday. His parting words were “things usually happen when I’m away”. Looks like he was right again  )

You gone anywhere nice on your holiday ?

I already said Elanga carries the ball better as well. Whatever metric Murphy is on a par with probably isn't that much of a factor as long as Elanga is improving us.

They’ve bid knowing that offer won’t be accepted surely, a tactic maybe. They’ll want £65 mill at least and we won’t go to it is my guess

They must’ve had word he’s keen if they’ve bid?

He's been frothing at the gash for ages for this move.

What did you think of the Gordon signing?

He wasn’t my preferred type of player ideally. But still a lot better in general play than Elanga. Better technically too. Even now I think he lacks a bit in some areas. But his other strong attributes very much weigh this up when he’s on song. He’s one of the reasons that I want something more different to our right hand side so that we can get some more variety and other strong technical attributes to give us some balance.

I was against signing him from the off but that was very much mainly because I disliked him from his Everton days, not much to do with pure football reasons. I’m sure I said stuff that I shouldn’t have.

When it comes to Elanga, I like him, but not so much for footballing reasons. Especially for us and where we are aiming to go, and what what areas we need to improve in.

What happened to good old fashioned transfer requests?

If Elanga knocked on their door and says he wants the move and is willing to give up his loyalty bonus that puts them in a very tricky situation.

I think Elanga would be a great signing, despite not being this mythical technical superstar that apparently we should be signing.

As been said - they would always reject the first bid

Looks like he’s «only» on 25k per week so it might even be a case of Forest wanting him to hand in a transfer request so they won’t have to pay his loyalty bonus + bump up the price with a few million in the process

They don’t happen anymore it seems. He wants to come I reckon but won’t kick up a fuss

Aye if it's only £45m (no add ons etc), there's no chance. Can only imagine we're trying to unsettle him, but there's no way they're letting him go at that price. It's a borderline insulting offer for a young, capped, established Premier League winger these days to be honest.

If he stays, its an absolute certainty that he gets a pay rise, which could well be what this is all about.

He's been in great form last two seasons in the main for Forest. A real handful in transition with a good # of goals and assists. At 23, probably levels to his execution and decision making to fine-tune under Eddie's tutelage. Positionally versatile, and if he can get to an even better level than last season, would be very well loved in a black and white shirt.

These sums always seem like big #'s when you compare to other players and positions but I trust the club to get the transfers right, they seemingly have nailed nearly every single one.

I like Elanga a lot and like him in our system but there’s still some questions over how far he can go. £45m seems like a good fee for him. I don’t think he’s worth north of £50-£55m.

I think we should move on if Forest are adamant they aren’t gonna sell. Last thing we need is a Guehi style drawn out process.

45 million for essentially a hyperMurphy sounds reasonable to me tbh.

I agree. How much did they pay for him? And how much did we pay for Gordon and Barnes? How much did Spurs pay for Johnson?

All around that ball park for a player they bought for very little iirc.

The Murphy comparisons are difficult to understand. At the same age, Murphy could barely hit a shot on target never mind have consecutive seasons of 14 and 17 Premier League goal involvements, in a team most people would only regard as being fairly average from an attacking perspective.

You'd think Almiron and Longstaff would have shown us a thing or two about purple patches and players eventually reverting to factory settings.
