Fjørtoft? He just didnt see the contact I think.

Watching Shearer and Given. Shearer said that Gordon initiates the contact. Gordon was just running at full speed.. Even said that there was not enough of a touch? Show me a situation where that is not given..

Clear pen, foolish to say otherwise. Which Shearer kinda is tbf.

I agree with them that Gordon knows what he's doing when he plays it past the goalkeeper, but that doesn't change the rules. They later started talking about consistency in refereeing. Not giving that pen would me the most inconsistent thing you would ever see.[emoji38] He got to the ball first, meaning Ederson was late.

Think if we'd had a striker to bring on we may have nicked it. Lack of options from the bench held us back from taking the initiative id say.

The difference between us at home and us away is ridiculous

two crosses low right at the 6 yard nobody tapped in

Hall was my MOTM but Murphy and Joelinton were excellent tucking in and supporting the FBs.

Add Bruno and Gordon to that and you can see we are back.

Yeah, just watched Shearer and Given post match on this stream. Saying the VAR should have at least asked the ref to have another look, but VAR is only suppoosed to step in for a 'clear and obvious error', which that wasn't. Gordon at full pelt, in realtime, it looks an obvious penalty, not a clear mistake to give it.

Thought Gordon presented himself well on the TNT sports coverage, he's very likeable.

Still thinking we could have won that if we'd just had a bit of extra quality in a few positions. Great performance though and shown ourselves we can play, so hopefully we'll kick on

Madness they are even debating it, it's a clear pen and it should have been 2. I assume they made no comment about the 1 minute stoppage time when we were on the front foot or the ridiculous 7 mins in the second half.

They said that we were lucky to get the 1st one, and pretty much said that it wasn't a pen. I never thought anyone would even discuss that one.

Considering some of the blatant penalties that have been denied in previous seasons against City, we probably were lucky to have it given.

Against City I never expect anything from the refs or VAR. When Joelinton went down without the refs intervention, I just knew it wouldn't be given, just because it's Man City. Against a bottom half side I would have hope, and no doubt they would spend atleast a minute looking at it. And I agree, I was really surprise when we were given the first pen.

Played really well there. Despite conceding, thought that was the best defensive performance for quite a while.

Need to back this up in back to back league games. Can't go to Goodison and perform like the doylems we've regularly looked away from home.
