Honestly it was incredible, four big signings and a big build up. Loads of bother that day too.

Had malaise between the fans and the board grown unsustainable by the time McFaul got the sack? Me dad reckons he could've turned it around as we were usually slow starters under him.

Then again, had we not gone down in 1989, no Keegan.

Think generally it had been a decade of absolute dross both on and off the pitch. Football generally was still at a relatively low point. We'd had a glimpse of what could be with Keegan as a player but christ it was hard. I was young and just supported the lads home and away.

Not sure on McFaul doing anything but we'll never know.

Not sure about no Keegan. That happened with the takeover which may well have happened anyway.

88 still ranks as one of the most disappointing days of my following the lads away (and I've had a few).

Fucking awful day that.

Remember when Lejeune turned into Haaland in stoppage time after we'd got battered all game

And Pickford was so far behind his line he may as well have been in the stands

Aye that was a bad day, one of my first away games.  I remember they had a side scrolling telecaster scoreboard behind us and at the final whistle it popped up:

Everton 4 Newcastle Utd 0 ............ Technique

Supposed "scouse humour"  Hated those cunts ever since

Why is Longstaff posting pre-match graphics on IG, better not be starting 🤢

I mean so has Miggy. Pretty sure most of them do to be fair, they’re still in the squad.

What's happening with Isak? How long is he out for?

Howe says he'll be back after the international break, along with Wilson for a game or two.
