I’d certainly take that over finishing 4th. Both would be nice!

Feels like such a golden opportunity. If we can get out with a 1 goal deficit or less to take back home then we're winning the tie. Who’s missing for Arsenal? However, if we win this, then it might also take pressure off us as we’d go into April, and May knowing that no matter what happens, we will be in Europe next season. That might just be enough to let us loosen up, which may result in us nabbing a Champions League spot, or a Europa League spot.

Havertz 50/50 Timber's on that list but looks to have been suspended for their last league game and can play now. Whereas we have Wilson, Schar, Bruno, Lascelles, Pope and Krafth out with Botman rated 75% https://www.premierinjuries.com/teams/newcastle-united
Checko Posted yesterday at 09:05 Share Posted yesterday at 09:05 Lets' face it, I've gotta make them reasonable favourites, particularly over two legs. I think a lot will depend on how much Artetadyce wants to commit to the League Cup.

mondonewc Posted yesterday at 09:24 Share Posted yesterday at 09:24 Not sure what I would enjoy more, winning tonight to set us up with a great chance to get to another final, or winning to put a stop to the ridiculous idea that we can't win a game without Bruno! Sibierski Posted yesterday at 09:25 Share Posted yesterday at 09:25 Hopefully we've got their number on the corners. 11 last time and it didn't seem to trouble us, so hopefully same again. Because that is genuinely their threat with no Saka. Don't fear their attackers in open play.
PRL Posted yesterday at 09:28 Share Posted yesterday at 09:28 They’re missing 2x RB and 2x RW, so what normally is an area that we struggle with when playing them at the Emirates is an opportunity this time. Just hoping Gordon is fit as having him and Hall against a makeshift right side for Arsenal could be useful
mattypnufc Posted yesterday at 09:29 Share Posted yesterday at 09:29 Into these entitled, whinging, dirty, time wasting but 'gamesmanship', wish they had Isak but can't afford him, managed by a lego headed fucking prick, cunts!

Likelylad Posted yesterday at 09:59 Share Posted yesterday at 09:59 With the Isak thing. It's like the media resent us having one of the best forwards in world football. Who do we think replaces Bruno? Miley could be a shout with his passing range but i just don't see Howe taking that kind of risk with such an important game. Elliottman Posted yesterday at 10:01 Share Posted yesterday at 10:01 Be surprised if they went full strength tonight (as much as they can). They’ve got 8 games between now and the second leg including Man United on Sunday followed by Spurs on the Wednesday. Just don’t think they’ll prioritise this over the league, FA Cup and Champions League. Will undoubtedly be wrong like.
SUPERTOON Posted yesterday at 10:03 Share Posted yesterday at 10:03 They rested both CBs in the last round against Palace. If they do the same tonight it gives us a great chance.

Holmesy Posted yesterday at 10:19 Share Posted yesterday at 10:19 Won't happen but i'd like to see Barnes in the #10 role tonight in the absence of Bruno
jonny1403 Posted yesterday at 10:23 Share Posted yesterday at 10:23 I don't think it will be pretty tonight. No Schar or Bruno for us means our passing ability will suffer and we'll likely want to shut it down for a draw anyway.

We'll obviously miss Bruno's ability as a conductor, but it will increase our running power and defensive rigidity. Ultimately it might result in us defending too much though as I can see the ball getting lost in possession a lot more than usual.

But nothing about his skillset screams number 10, to me? Because he's one of our more creative players and a genuine goal threat with both feet. Nothing more than that really. We lose so much creativity without Bruno in the side so unless we're planning on parking the bus (not Eddie's style) that creativity ideally needs replacing. I'm not suggesting a like-for-like swap for Bruno, i'm suggesting a more advanced role behind Isak. I'm basically trying to come up with alternatives to starting Longstaff in midfield Edited yesterday at 10:30 by Holmesy
