Newcastle United 3-0 Aston Villa - 26/12/24

Villa fans on Villa Talk seem to think Duran was a yellow and Joelinton was a red. I understand every fan has a bit bias, but how anyone who has ever kicked a ball in their life can come to that conclusion is beyond me.

Am I really bias, as I just looked on Reddit and everyone seems to be saying it was a really harsh red card, whereas I think it was a blatant

I feel like if it was the other way around we would be making excuses for our lad about momentum and that sort of thing, but that last step was completely needless, I don't think there can be any real complaints.

Didn't play that well but fuck Villa tbh.

McGinn was snide and moany. Rogers was flopping all over the place.

As an aside, he's got a lot of flak on here but Dubravka deserves some praise. Having a keeper who is part of the passing game is massive IMO.

We sign a keeper than can distribute and make saves and we're fucking flying.

Dhuran rolled his left ankle just before he put his right foot studs into Schar. Dunno, I think it is a wee bit harsh. I do think it's accidental.

Dangerous play is dangerous play even if it is accidental. The obligation is not got into 50-50s studs up and stand on players on the ground.

Yeah, I may be in the minority but I thought his momentum carried him and it was mostly clumsy. I thought it was harsh.

Obviously Joelinton's was barely even a foul.

You know what’s even better than a 3-0 win over Villa? A 3-0 win over Villa when your best mate is a Villa fan, and he’s saying we played poorly and Tonali was only okay. He’s properly rattled [emoji38]

I dont think we played fantastic, and the red card changed the game. Not Tonalis best game, but he was better than everyone on Villa

Some very scary moments coming for crosses though.

Yeah. Wouldn't say unconvincing but wasn't convincing either, in the spirit of the occasion will defer to their Wimbledon style set-plays and crosses
