Holloway
Watching the highlights again and Bruno's involvement in the action in our final third is massive, he has been unleashed

He didn't seem that concerned about Schar's wellbeing despite knowing he has just 'accidently' raked his studs into his back. This is a good point, if you accidentally stamp on someone you immediately acknowledge it and check on the player He knew what he did, even the commentary had mentioned him being annoyed earlier as he wasn't allowed to take the free kick, he was still bubbling away and clearly lost it

Emotic
Emery didn’t even look at Duran as he left the pitch, he knew Duran done fucked up. He claimed they’d appeal the red, let’s see how that works out.
54
Interesting that MOTD used the Amazon commentary/ Amazon just used the MOTD commentators, but without the co-commentator in the highlights.
Tsunami
Here’s 2 frames from the initial stamp. Schar has just cleared the ball and nearly caught Duran in the nuts. In the 1st frame Duran’s whole momentum is going to the left, his left foot is going left. In the next frame he’s looking at Schar and you can see his left foot moving towards Schar’s backside. He catches Schar, rolls his foot and instead of just falling to his left and manages to stamp on his back.
KetsbaiaIsBald
As per others it’s a clear red. He lost his head. Pure stupidity. Villa were slightly on top at the time but it means nothing. Even Ipswich had a period of play after our first. During this phase I felt we were one decent pass away from a second. The result set up a brilliant Boxing Day steak feast with my family. Cheers Duran.
Checko
Really wasn't sure about the red card tbh. It wasn't a stamp, it was a scrape and he does lose his footing and balance which could well be what causes his leg to instinctively come out. On the other hand he loses his balance because he treads on Schar and he's looking at him the whole time. It's all very quick in real time but he had a couple of steps first, he shouldn't be stepping on Schar in the first place there so I'm leaning to red because of that. I missed the first one at the time and thought it was harsh, but there's a couple of angles where it's pretty clear he aims his left foot towards Schar. Lush Vlad
Just a stamp and then a kick/raking motion with his right. Both being unnatural and deliberate movements to hit Schar. No red.
Hanshithispantz
Posted earlier in the thread, watch his left foot not his right.
jack j
I've seen worse like. Duran being a lunatic in the past probably doesn’t help his cause

Yeah, I meant not a stamp with the right, he does step on Schar and shouldn't.
Donut
Massive win! Villa beaten to a pulp in the end just constantly giving it away. Reminded me of the 22-23 season.
OoOGazOoO
Just watching MotD and little chuckle at Duran launching the water bottle after sending off and Emery just ignoring him as he walks off down the tunnel
St1pe
Im actually a bit baffled there’s so much debate about it. It’s a red. He’s meant to leave something on him and he’s been caught.
1964
It's not a clear red, otherwise the debate wouldn't be so split. I think it was harsh and we would be taking that view if it were one of ours. The rolling of the left ankle caused the apparent clumsy fall

Also if it had been one of our players think there would be a lot more calls for accidental.

RS
Maybe Duran would have got away with the first deliberate stamp with his left foot. He had the choice of stepping over him with his right but he brings his foot back to ensure he connects for a second time which makes the decision easier. I thought we looked a class act today and Martinez saved them from a proper embarrassing humping.
Mikky
It’s a clear red - just like the stamp on Bi Joe the other week - there’s a duty of care to the opponent
Lotus
Nothing wrong with @David Edgar seeing the momentum of the game swing to Villa for a bit. I thought so too but wasn’t sure they’d score. Overall I think we’d have won 11 v 11 because I think we had better players in midfield.
Hanshithispantz
There's only a debate because people are ignoring the left foot stamp and the fact it was Duran involved, who Emery knows is a complete liability. People have been going on for a couple years now about how he's a cunt off the pitch.
