Lush Vlad Posted Tuesday at 12:34 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:34 Yeah. He's poor in the final third and unless he is driving forward into space, he's not great on the ball. But he looks like Maldini in his prime compared to Trippier, defensively speaking.

The Butcher Posted Tuesday at 12:37 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:37 Really close to A in his prime, but probably a C/D now.
gbandit Posted Tuesday at 12:51 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:51 Tino’s not remotely shite. He’s class. He’s had a poor season by his standards but he’s been very good defensively for the vast majority of games. He’s been poor going forwards. We know he is quality at driving with the ball and that’ll come back with the right balance on the right-hand side. His cross at the weekend was one of the best he’s delivered, needs to work on that area of his game a lot

Fair dos - my OG post re that one was a throwaway comment about there being only one NUFC player who meets the ‘A’ categorisation
Yorkie Posted Tuesday at 13:05 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:05 I'm not really seeing it with Tino atm. Hope to be proved wrong but he wouldn't be in the team for me.

Yorkie Posted Tuesday at 13:12 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:12 is it really that wild a take? He looked great when he first came into the team but he doesn't contribute that much now imo.
The Prophet Posted Tuesday at 13:16 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:16 Tino is still learning the game. For his age, he's defensively excellent. Going forward though, he definitely needs to develop his game. Unfortunately on the socials he's joined the list of players that folk absolutely love to get stuck into after a poor performance. Thankfully Barnes will be back soon to take some of the heat.
Lush Vlad Posted Tuesday at 13:17 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:17 Trippier’s ‘defending’ against Bournemouth and City this season make me think he should only be starting in a back 5 or in games we’re expected to dominate. He’s never been great defensively. But he’s been getting exposed one on one for a good while now.

Displayname Posted Tuesday at 13:19 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:19 (edited) Tino has still been great defensively most of this season. Has alot of work to do on his offensive contributions ofcourse, but the potential is there. Tripper is done imo. Voted E. Wanting Trippier in the team, less so, if you can ignore his performance against Man City.
Yorkie Posted Tuesday at 13:30 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:30 okay, I'll admit it lacks nuance as an assessment. I'm definitely not sold on him though; he's in the Willock camp for me whereby if we cashed in I wouldn't be devastated.
JT24 Posted Tuesday at 13:35 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:35 I’m absolutely certain Tino will be world class in a matter of years.
Pablo Posted Tuesday at 13:39 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:39 If you look who is immediately next to Tino on the pitch, it doesn’t help his development. An aging Schar and JMurph, and to a lesser extent our Gk and Bruno. Love them all, but I’m sure this affects our right backs game, as normal passing angles and passes received are from those players. He will get better again, as the quality around him increases. Totally wild and needless take to want to cash in or to criticise him on social media. Kid Icarus Posted Tuesday at 13:54 Share Posted Tuesday at 13:54 (edited) Honestly I think players of his profile don't exist in the C category anymore. Comfortably mid-table teams don't really do the over 30 ex-elite level player anymore unless they need a quick fix and/or they're still very good consistently. He's a D here and probably elsewhere too and I don't think that's a bad thing. Edited Tuesday at 13:56 by Kid Icarus
Abacus Posted Tuesday at 14:02 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:02 He's a D, which feels harsh for one of my favourite players when he first came in. He's a back up now, and that's a backup for a player who has a lot still to develop on. I do think with a better RW, Tino can forge a decent partnership and so become better himself. Trippier made Almiron into so much of a better player for a spell, and the whole back line as well, but I can't see him as much more than back up now. So, that's the definition of a D in here. Aiston Posted Tuesday at 14:17 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:17 Quote C - Solid PL starter. A team consisting entirely of Cs should be comfortable in the PL but wouldn't challenge for the top places. His complete lack of minutes surely stops him being that. He is our back up right back. Would say D or even harsh E really at this point for him. Abacus Posted Tuesday at 14:34 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:34 Not to mess up the debate, but Tonali is going to be an interesting one.
