Newcastle United 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion - 02/03/2025

Difficult to begrudge Brighton the win tbh. They looked sharp, quick, organised and made far fewer mistakes than we did. We could easily have won it too, we had chances but so did they. They're streetwise and know exactly what they're doing, they may be cucks for the Sky 6 but they're a good, solid unit and they're in brilliant form

Does get tiring giving up so many goals to teams who aren’t even playing well. And giving the ball away every 45 seconds.

I don't think I've seen any team give the ball away so cheaply, ever. It's starting to be very frustrating. Mostly completely needlessly.

The main problems are the same main problems we've had for years . Only the squad is smaller. Rw, right cb , and no decent alternative to Isak to lighten his load. Then the newer issues like Gordons form being patchy and the keepers being poor means we're regressing. Still believe in Eddie. Just needs a reset for the next few weeks and if we can get going in final it could springboard us to far brighter days.  Today was an absolute sickener mind.

Absolute sickener..

Said it in the Liverpool thread. We can't be surprised, ultimately in comparison to the top 4 we are shit but with potential. It's an antagonizing wait seeing how close we are to breaking through but being held back from getting the players we need to push on.

Players like Schar, Murphy and others aren't top 6 players. We know Eddie will bring the best out of them but we can't be surprised when they give the ball away in dangerous areas and show their limitations as much as we can't go crazy with expectations when they are playing well above their station.

We are where we are. We don't have a squad to compete on more than one potential front with consistency. It's getting better but it's an incredibly slow process. It's going to be ripped apart in the summer, even more so if we don't make Europe which is definitely possible. We could also sneak into CL it's hard to predict when we are so inconsistent.

I fucking hate Brighton like, they're really nothing special this season but we've come unstuck against them every time. Everyone will get up a height about them again and they'll finish 9th or whatever as usual.

One of our current bogey teams, along with Bournemouth.

The first home game earlier this season we deserved to get something from, they basically scored their only good chance and then we couldn't break them down. Today though, we made them look good due to our inability to exert any control whatsoever and that's really frustrating.

Urgh fuck I'm absolutely gutted with that, like. Absolutely infuriating performance.

I didn't think we were disgracefully bad by any means; we weren't good - far too clumsy and rash - but we had a lot of moments, and put ourselves into plenty of good positions, only to fluff our lines, making it all the more annoying. The disallowed winner is truly some VAR age misery and if it counts, I think we're praising us for coming through another grueling cup tie against a team that's got our number. Sadly the fun police put paid to that and one too many slack plays in ET results in the suckerpunch.

We've got to improve on the ball if we're going to sustain a CL push, though.

This one is really hurting, like. Just felt like such a good opportunity to get into the quarter finals. Really shot ourselves in the foot over and over. Big job for Eddie now to get the lads fired up for the final, they're gonna be feeling down as fuck you'd imagine.
