[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS

Recommended Posts

Watched yesterday at home, no drink involved. Deserved win on how the game went. I was still shyting myself in injury time though thinking it was all going to go horribly wrong.

Watched the whole game again tonight completely sober and no pressure and was honestly aghast at how good we were. We fucking dominated them and controlled them from whistle to whistle, they had and did nothing. I had an idea of how we could win that game prior to kick off but it was very much a case of grabbing something then clinging on for dear life - riding our luck and just about spawning it, that was the only way I saw us winning it. But we controlled that game from start to finish and totally snuffed them out as an attacking unit for 93 minutes. I honestly didn't know we were capable of that performance on that stage against that opposition but we completely fucking nailed it

Every single player did exactly what was asked of him, the tactics worked to perfection and all of their threats were basically nullified by our positioning and good play, sensible, no-nonsense, risk-free play and we squashed the best team in the league out of the game and bullied them in a Cup Final. Impressive isn't even close to what we did yesterday, it was outstanding, we were on it from the first minute til the 101st. The best footballing day of my life and it was 100% deserved, no luck involved, the best team won and it could and should have been by more. We played the cunts off the park, we're capable of anything :)

I've been scratching my head about this "event" on the 29th.

I mean, how many people are going to want to be a part of that? Can the city infrastructure even cope with it? Presumably if something is happening on the town Moor it'll have to be ticketed to some degree, then a bus parade where it's just a case of "best of luck trying to get a decent spot"?

We don't have a wealth of experience to call upon in these situations...

Nope. I assume you get money for each round you win, but that's probably just a few thousand. The winners get 100k and the runners up 50k.

Won’t even cover last nights bar bill

Hilarious when Liverpool were slow and direct with their play too.  We had 9 men on the pitch and they were practically playing walking football.

Yeh I found that a baffling statement. The only quality came from us. It's not like it was they lost to Wimbledon. I'm sure their main tactic first half was lumping balls towards Diaz to scrap for.

Watching it back again and the holding of the ball in the corner during the closing stages by Wilson, Willock, Sandro, Joelinton and others was a fantastic demonstration of a lost art that Shearer will have been proud as punch of. Absolutely class.

Watching it again in the Strawberry atm (for the 2nd time)

The footage of the two teams in the tunnel is VERY interesting. Liverpool players look tired, distracted and nervous. We looked game ready, focused and determined.

Need to go back through the match thread to see if similar observations were made pre game

Just want to relive it all over again. I can see why it's contagious like. An entire city on cloud 9 man, incredible

Not many of the "traditional winning clubs" get to experience the euphoria we did. 70 fucking years man. Pinch us!

Forgot how dicey that shoot out vs Forest actually was. When Joelinton missed and they went 3-1 up it looked over.

Also how important Schär was on the run. Pen against Wimbledon, goal against Brentford, created Gordon's goal against Arsenal. Impressive that we finished 13-3 in goals across the competition (9-2 against the top four) with two of those conceded being late consolations.

Any podcasts worth checking out? I've already somehow managed to get through True Faith (I know, I know).

All with smiling face have done one. The Everything is Black and White one is a fantastic mix of everything as well. "Eddie Howe and Newcastle United made me cry" on YouTube
