An unmitigated shambles, and I know that people will rightly say that it's not the fault of Howe or the players. But for me in the big list of things it puts the Carabao Cup behind our First Division trophy in 1993, with Howe behind Keegan and Isak probably behind Andy Cole given the latter's fine run-in and his hat-trick against Leicester.

This bus stuff is proper weird. We're sponsored by a company that specializes in hosting events, I'm sure they have something amazing planned, and people are crying that they might not be able to see the players in an open top bus?   Some people just gagging to complain about anything.

Proximity. Many people would rather be  close for a few seconds than half a mile away from a hologram for several hours. Not sure what is hard to understand about this - a lot of people have been imagining this for half a century.

Again, I'm optimistic it'll turn out alright, but when club things keep being run through a filtering process of season ticket holders and members, you can't blame people for being a bit paranoid.

Hopefully it's a good old fashioned fossil fuel burning bus with a leaky exhaust.

Though given how poorly the club has organised things, no doubt it'll be a woketric bus.

Clinging onto the hope that they fire an open top bus out of a cannon into the Tyne. Then Miggy is parachuted in and as he comes into land he kicks a right-footed shot so hard it knocks all the rust off the Tyne bridge. Jamaal Lascelles comes out with two bionic legs and crushes Richard Masters’ neck which is televised to a chorus of “you don’t know what you’re doing”. Finally, Eddie Howe serenades the lads from the top of the angel of the north with “take on me”

It's not that weird if you stop and think about it, and crying is a bit hyperbolic?

I'm sure Sela and the club will put on a hell of a show, but there are going to be things a single event will find harder to achieve that an open top bus through the city could and one of those is proximity to the cup and players (though likewise I'm sure the event will do things that you obviously couldn't with a bus tour).

Hopefully it's class, I'm sure it will be, but it's fair enough if people have been thinking about this day for decades and for whatever reason the celebration event is going in a direction that seems like it'll be tough to ensure everyone can get reasonably up close to the players and trophy. Maybe it's a lack of imagination on my part, but I don't see how you can do that to the same degree as you could a bus tour where you're a few metres away at the side of the road. Hopefully it is a lack of imagination from me and this time next week this thread will be full of posters reporting how much they loved it and how close they were able to get.

This forum has absolutely got previous on your last point, I just don't think it's a fair stick to beat the people who are a bit disappointed in this case, at least until more details emerge.

I really object to this idea that people who want a bus parade are ridiculous. Every cup in England has been paraded around the streets of the winning city for as long as anyone can remember.

When you imagine a heroic winning team coming back with the cup, that’s what you picture. It’s not silly or whinging about nothing at all. It’s something a lot of people were waiting for and would be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.

Not sure why people can’t be allowed their own preferences.

How do you work this out? Its standard stuff whenever any team win anything , ( England Rugby win, The ashes , Spain winning the Euros/ World Cup etc etc). Selsa making it more of a party thorugh the day sounds like a good idea but not in a field in March ffs

I think there are extremes. Of course people are allowed to prefer an open topped bus parade to a static, ticketed event. They're even allowed to get extremely vexed/upset about it. Even though they're getting upset about something that hasn't been defined as of yet.

People are also allowed, however, to laugh at them. If the so chose.

Well yeah, but why is laughing at them warranted?

There's an accessibility issue to consider here too. The FAQs say there's no seating and you can't even bring your own, which basically cuts any non able-bodied supporter out of attending without discomfort. There's time for them to address that and hopefully they will, but it's hardly ideal
