Aston Villa 4-1 Newcastle United - 19/04/2025

Recommended Posts

We were off to a man all match, and they had some really good play and intensity. Rogers looked great and a real threat on the ball.

It's going to happen some matches, but 6 points from Man Utd, Palace and Villa is not to be sniffed at.

Good reality check that hopefully refocuses us for the final run-in.

So reading between the lines, "cough", do you agree that Bruno was shite today?  Why does no-one say it?

I did say it. He was terrible.

I actually said no one annoyed me more today, in the match thread [emoji38]

I wasn't the only one who said it either. Where is this idea coming from that you think no one pulls him up on poor performances?

I don't care who it is, if they had a stinker, they had a stinker. Simple!

I mean sometime in the last 3 it seems.

You're doing that thing again when you just make shit up. Longstaff over any of our midfield 3 is obviously a massive downgrade, don't think I've ever suggested otherwise.

To try and get to the bottom of this, did you think we looked tired today, and were suffering from fatigue?

When in the last 3 games should we have rotated? Who would you have played instead of who?

I thought we looked tired in the second half but I'm struggling to think of how we could have done much more in the last few games. They're all must win games, we can't just drop our poor subs like Longstaff into games like this one or Palace or Man Utd

We took our best players off in the previous 3 games when the games been won

Rod gets a bit weird over Bruno.

One thing that annoyed me was the stupid claims that villa would be "mentally tired" from the PSG game. It wasn't mainly our fans saying it but a lot of other fans too. It never made sense.

I'm not worried as a win wasn't a necessity for us. January saved their season. I hope we can learn from them going into UCL next season.

We’ve been in and out of form two/three times this season. This was in the post. We’re quite often brilliant but just as often mediocre. Villa have been able to rotate due to their better squad/recruitment/more money & 3 games in 6 days was always going to kill us. Onana and Ramsay came on and scored; our only decent bench option came on and huffed and puffed a bit. No need to be too down, these at Man City  on Tuesday hopefully they’ll cancel each other out and we tear Ipswich a new one Saturday…

PS not sure if you’ve heard Toontastic is down so you’ll possibly have to put up with an influx of us twats for a while 😊🤝

Fair play from you.  However LOADS on here will not say a word against him.  That alone infuriates me more than his crap performances.

You've just liked my post in the Bruno thread so presumably you've read the countless posts in there saying he had a bad one.

No idea why you're going all 'telling it like it is. Fact' over something plenty are literally already saying.

Bruno dived in to stop Tielemans turning got booked and they scored their second from the free kick,  pretty much game over after that. Tielemans made a three course dinner out of it but we’d been doing that all over the shop too…

The players will have been fit enough to play since we have someone looking after that and he’s done a really good job so far. Players have definitely been rotated when needed this season and there’s no reason to think Tindall isn’t getting the same information Howe normally gets.

What’s more likely is we just got hammered by a very good team who played very well. It’s a shame but one game changes nothing.

I don't know Joey, like I say these questions are pointless gotcha attempts.

With back to back games in a week playing the same squad is obviously going to lead to fatigue. In hindsight I'd have started Gordon, Miley and Krafth today, but my point isn't to say he got any single game wrong, it's that we have the squad to rotate better than we have done this week.

Villa were just firing straight balls down the pitch which we couldn't get near all first half, we looked miles off it all game imo.

He probably does. But he can see other posts.

Someone just mentioned him.

Also he did 3 posts in a row (which come up as blocked but in the feed) which means he's been on the meds today I see.

I don't Bruno is anywhere near as good as he was when he first came into the side. Maybe the captaincy is weighing him down. He spends far too much time trying to illicit fouls , gives away needless free kicks and complains to the ref none stop. Having said all this I don't know the answer
