ponsaelius Posted yesterday at 10:19 Share Posted yesterday at 10:19 I'm not sure I'd play 3-4-3 at home to Everton mind.

I love 3-4-3 anyway, but I think it matches up really nicely against a defensive 4-2-3-1 where you need to dominate the ball and create chances. Doesn’t have to be if you get the wing backs up and press into midfield with the CBs.

We control the game so much more when playing 3-4-3, would help to quell any early nerves
ponsaelius Posted yesterday at 10:53 Share Posted yesterday at 10:53 (edited) It's fine if you play it all the time, not so much when you've only ever used it as an adaptive system to play on the break or due to personnel availability like we have. Think part the reason we struggled second half against Chelsea was because we'd been set up in a 3-4-3 and then suddenly had an issue with the extra man and needing to be the more proactive side. I don't think I'd want to play it at home to Everton personally. Edited yesterday at 10:53 by ponsaelius
AyeDubbleYoo Posted yesterday at 10:53 Share Posted yesterday at 10:53 I just really don’t want to leave Botman out to play Willock.
ponsaelius Posted yesterday at 10:55 Share Posted yesterday at 10:55 Yeah I can see that justification to be fair. If Trippier is out as well I think we probably are best going with 3-4-3 it just doesn't convince me.

Ed Vinegar Posted yesterday at 11:46 Share Posted yesterday at 11:46 Can't believe this isn't on TV. Dr.Spaceman
There's another defender out as well, isn't there? Should be interesting with a patched up defence. Just hope Doucoure doesn't turn into Eusebio on his final game for them.

Everton have a slowish defence and with Braithwaite out I would be up for keeping this same formation. If Trippier is back then a 4-3-3 is decent, but it´s the left side middle of the park that bothers me; I don´t like either of Willock or Miley in there, they don´t elevate our game in any way... If Everton have a defence which lacks pace then we need to hit them with pace. Might be a factor for starting Willock over Miley if either of them is being considered. It was infuriating watching crosses coming in against Arsenal when we had no one busting a gut to get in the penalty area last week.
