He was told he could leave and they set a figure, they broke their word and he has no way out other than handing his notice in but that then means we would have to sign him without know the potential compensation value? How would you feel if your work offered you a 50k bonus and then decided the next year when it was due they weren't going to pay it? Would you just put up with it or do everything in your power to get your way? Because he’s acting like a dick. I don’t like it when players act like this - he’s still being paid a very good wage - and whatever he agreed he didn’t have it written down on paper, that’s his mistake. So its acceptable for the club to do what they want and the employee swallows it? Even if it holds back their career? There isnt a middle ground, you either do what you can to leave, or they wont sell you

If not, it’s fine for a club to do what is considered legal by law.

The club don't have it written down that he will lose his pay if he doesn't train. Thats their mistake right? My view is both are acting badly. Both side should stick to their word. Neither should be excused from blame based on a lack of legal requirement to act well.

Ah somebody talking law to a lawyer. If it is agreed verbally it is a binding contract also as long as the individual seeks to rely on the representation

Hanshithispantz
I mean if they've told him they'd then him go for £27m and then went back on it then they are the cunts like, seems a mad thing to promise a player contracted to you though
sushimonster85
Beginning to think whoever made this promise on the Brentford end left themselves so wiggle room. Like "around 25 million, dependent on the rest of the striker market" etc.
PauloGeordio
“In the UK, a handshake, or verbal agreement, can be legally binding if it meets the basic requirements of a contract: offer, acceptance, consideration, and intention to create legal relations. However, proving the terms of a verbal agreement can be difficult without written evidence. While not mandatory, written contracts offer clarity and are easier to enforce in case of a dispute” Ask Wissa if they shook on it. If so that’s outrageous behaviour by Brentford. Sibierski
Guy needs to train if he wants to come here, don't want to be dropping £40m on a guy that has done bare fitness training all summer and joins 4 weeks behind fitness scedule of our lot and has to play catch up. Feel we've moved on from him anyway and he's just doing himself more harm by throwing his toys out still.

I'm dead set against any player who pulls this shit. If a player is under contract, unless he's been really badly mistreated, he needs to honour his contract, otherwise there's no point in having contracts in the first place.
