oldtype
Seeing Cisse's goal from the away end was fucking nuts. Shola got the ball near the corner, which is just about the least exciting thing that NUFC could possibly do on the pitch at the time, so nobody was really paying attention. Then he passes it to Cisse, and everyone's just thinking "wtf is this guy doing fannying about outside the box." The viewing angles at Stamford Bridge are terrible so my part of the away end didn't really have a line of sight to the back of the net. Didn't realize what had happened until we hear this gigantic collective gasp from the home fans, we all strain our necks and realize that Cech is on the ground and the ball is in the back of the net. Absolute pandemonium follows, of course. Edited July 31, 2025 by oldtype

BergenMagpie
Kalimuendo was the striker I wanted us to sign this window (before the Isak situation). Think he'd be a perfect fit, so I'd be annoyed if we get Wissa and Brentford gets him

Hopefully when we appoint a new DOF this all changes going forward.

KaKa
We're just not going to risk someone like Kalimuendo needing an adjustment period. It's clear this is the mindset at the club right now. Wissa scored 19 in the league last season, is desperate to come and is going to cost around £35 million. They're just not going to pass that up, understandably so tbh. sushimonster85
In a reality where we are likely to lose Isak, there's no way we can be turning up our nose at a 19 goal PL striker in favour of a lad who has 0 PL minutes.

All managers given the chance will do this, it’s why there should be a DOF in place with an overarching vision for the club. Great coach, ambassador and man manager, but this summer has showed that’s where his remit should remain.

Haz
We now HAVE to make the move! They say he’s not for sale. So why then reject our offer? Wouldn’t have made more sense to have made no comment? A sensible offer they can’t refuse.

Don’t give a shit with people saying it’s too much - just go to Brentford, offer another £5m and say “look this makes you save face a little as you can say you got more out of us” as buying him removes so much pressure from the isak situation as we at least have a striker who knows where the net is in the premier and has an amazing injury record as well as seems he’ll run through walls for the cause for us at the moment. It also pushes the issue of a long term replacement a few years down the road, time to get proper leadership perhaps and buy cheaper with more potential with the long term in mind. i know in simplifying things a lot but in a different field at work as a devops engineering lead I am forced to think this way sometimes when solving urgent issues. Simply, to sell Isak, without incoming means we have no strikers (unless you've faith in Osula) going into a season that should have been remarkable for all the right reasons. sushimonster85
There isn't a realistic replacement for Isak. Wissa is a good first step as he could do a job as the main man for a season, allowing us to bring in a more under the radar, young striker who can bed in/compete with Wissa. Or bring in a big signing designed to be the main man, but who can be pushed/be brought out of the firing line for Wissa.
nufc123
Not only did he have a great season, but hes desperate to come if we believe the reports. Going on strike is of course not good, we know that.

I can understand not wanting him because of his behaviour, but we are getting desperate. We can find a longer term replacement later.
