that was much more like the player I thought we’d bought tonight. Worked really hard and looked motivated, which I don’t think he necessarily has recently.

Talk of us ditching him after half a season is absolute nonsense. Unless behind the scenes he's a turbo-tit

He's going to be brilliant for us, and his suspect form (last few appearances) is just bad timing coupled with the return from injury.

His post match interview was very humble and wholesome.

So I am assuming he's actually a good character behind the scenes.

Obviously leaving Brentford the way he did wasn't ideal regarding loyalty etc but I think he just thought "It's now or never, I'm 29 and desperate to play in the Champions League", and it showed tonight.

Very positive evening for all the players, I can't criticize anyone's performance or commitment tonight.

Infinitely better. He executed the press to perfection. Seemed a lot more comfortable on the ball and went looking for it.

A goal and an assist, too.  Not too bad!

Maybe he was just rusty and I was being far too quick to judge. As he looked a totally different player tonight. Albeit in basically the perfect game set up for him.

First time he’s really looked like the player he was last season. Great to see.

Yep - I think that early goal helped you could just his confidence growing.

If he pops up with a goal and an assist every game then he does what we brought him here for, but still feel he was our worst player today. The assist came from a brilliant piece of pressing, but it was one short moment and nothing before or after. His goal was harder to miss than hit, and he nearly managed it. We need him to start converting chances like the one Barnes created for him. Hopefully today boosted his confidence and he manages to find some consistent form for the rest of the season.

That's an awful take.

How so?

A striker gets a goal and a mega assist in a win, then he's done his job and it's been a brilliant performance.  That simple, that complicated.

Also - just enjoy the win!

It is possible to enjoy a win and still have some reflections on individual players performances. I'm happy for him and happy for us. I hope the goal helps him do better in the future.

I thought his assist tonight was Beardsley-esque.

Just seen it on the highlights he did really well to get the ball across to Gordon

Following a serious injury, three goals and an assist fron 482 minutes of football. Still not convinced like, fingers crossed we ship him to Turkey.

Matterface with that "two in twelve games" stat wanted a good slap.

That includes seven sub appearances of 23 minutes or less. His previous CL game had been 1 minute long.
