Collage
Hopefully he can build on the performance against Chelsea where his movement looked much better. Nick seems a great guy, but too often he's looked slow to react in the box and it's been frustrating watching him halting attacks by dropping and wanting the ball to be played to his feet rather than stretching play and attacking the goal. Still, his qualities are obvious and so far he's scored a goal every second game in his first PL season, can't complain really. To me he looks like an unconventional #10 although I have to say, I can't really get my head around him as a player. He looked much better v Chelsea obviously and let's not forget he's still young, at a new club, in a new country. AyeDubbleYoo
He said in his interview with TNT, there’s an adjustment period to the speed and intensity of PL defences. If he was on penalties he’d be in the conversation for signing of the season.

Could some of it be because not only is he fitter but he's now being told (as Isak was), give it both burners and we can sub ypu when you're done instead of trying to nurse him through 90mins as we have nothing on the bench. Kanj
I like the mix-up of his play v Chelsea. Very clear what he was doing. I think it would be nice if our players delayed the ball or continued to work on communication with him on where the ball should be played as he's working his way into the box after dropping deep. But also there are times when we have the overlapping or underlapping midfielder making the low cross (see Ramsey in 2H hit a perfect low ball to the penalty spot and Nick wasn't there) that he has to gamble on the near post run and hope that the opposite winger or LCM/RCM is making up the space at top of box and back post. That is something he HAS to improve on. Having said that, if he's dropping deep - then the opposite winger needs to attack the back post/make central run, and a midfielder needs to get beyond Nick to make up #s. Feed him good crosses and the bloke is nearly unplayable, particularly dangerous driven ones that are bouncing or foot/volley height in addition to heading chances. Jack14Bojangles
From KICKER, Germany's leading sports magazine: Woltemade outshines everyone: How the 28 Germans are faring in Europe's top leagues Several German players are currently playing in Europe's top leagues. In the first half of the season, Nick Woltemade particularly stood out with an impressive goalscoring record. But lesser-known names also diligently accumulated playing time in England, Italy, Spain, and France. Premier League In the summer of 2025, two Germans attracted attention with their multi-million-pound transfers to the Premier League. Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade, however, experienced completely different first six months in England: Woltemade is Newcastle's top scorer with seven goals in his first 14 Premier League matches. Wirtz, on the other hand, has yet to score a single goal for Liverpool in over a thousand minutes of playing time and only managed his first league contribution shortly before Christmas. Perhaps somewhat under the radar in Germany, but all the more frequently on the pitch in the Premier League were Kevin Schade and Bernd Leno. The Brentford international and the Fulham goalkeeper have by far the most German playing minutes (Schade: 1323 minutes/Leno: 1440 minutes) in the world's best league, while Merlin Röhl and Kai Havertz have been plagued by injuries. Also remarkably good: Malick Thiaw, who followed Woltemade to Newcastle in the summer, recorded an outstanding tackle success rate of 70.6 percent, even if he did make one unfortunate error recently. ...
