How many did he get a couple year ago? A player can look wildly different depending on how a team is playing. Hopefully Elanga isn't actually rubbish and we see it next year. We have a few examples of this kind of thing over the past half decade. Edited May 3 by Hanshithispantz
Kimbo
I don’t see Howe changing his style and I don’t see Woltemade becoming an athlete over summer. Another season like this one for him and his value will be demolished. Howe will be under huge pressure right from the start next season, he will 100% back the style of play that made him successful. 1881
Was at both the Charlton and QPR capitulations, so no wonder I always expect the worst. Remember at half-time in the QPR game we were singing All we want for Christmas is a plastic pitch”.

Ground was absolutely dead as well. Definitely our smallest Saturday crowd of that season. It was - we got pumped 5-2 away at Oxford in the next game and he was gone and the most pivotal point ( alongside Kelly goal v Portsmouth later that season) in Newcastle’s recent history happened
La Parka
Think that's the end for him now. Can see him going to a side that dominates possession and looking classy as fuck. Absolute panic buy, bought because he's available. Rank planning. Was never gonna fit in howes aggroball. Feel for the lad because this will have damaged his momentum. La Parka
If that is true then he's got himself to blame. Bad all-round.
Mills and Boon
It's a weird take that the club has failed him and not that he's failed to meet the standards expected of a premier league striker. It happened with Tomasson off the top of my head. Some players just don't work out
TRon
1 hour ago, Ilovetoon8788 said: Precisely this. I think he needs to be moved on and bring a striker to who fits Howe physical style. Tall and athletic. And really quick. Wolt's lack of pace is the biggest drawback for a Howe team.

Casey
Feels like it was doomed from the get-go. It's clear from this season that the system and tactical style Howe implements and desires requires a mobile striker. I also don't think he would regularly break his 4-3-3 to offer a formation where someone like Wolte would play in-behind a striker. Maybe next year with a full preseason there'll be some evolution but I don't actually believe that, which is why I think it's gonna be pap seeing highlights of this lad in another kit. OoOGazOoO
He doesn't fit in here as unfortunate as it may be. With Howe remaining, I imagine the writing is on the wall. You also have to think of the player in all this too, and he needs to be happy, playing football and not being frustrated at being on the bench each week. He'll be gone. Ilovetoon8788
Under Howe he simply doesn't fit. Good luck to him in other league where he's probably more suited. Edited May 3 by Ilovetoon8788

We obviously didn't just pay a record fee for a player we have no plan for. Firmino had a bit of pace and exceptional work rate.

Holmesy
1 minute ago, joeyt said: Seems to be an assumption that he'll go to another club and be great for them He's clearly got a lot of talent, and under a manager who plays to his strengths I can't see why he wouldn't do well. He's so clearly not an Eddie type striker in this rigid formation so it's becoming increasingly baffling why we actually signed him. Maybe we thought we could mould him and he would adapt but given Eddie likes runners and mobility, how exactly?
NUFC91
I don't get this view of he can't play out system get rid... Why not look at ways to get him in to a formation in the summer. Let's be honest after the season we've had we maybe need to look at new ideas and we won't just be able to spend a load freely so why not give him a chance. It doesn't make sense to change your system to suit a player with more weaknesses than strengths. I don't think he's suited to the league itself, no matter which position he's in

Give him 3 months in summer and Eddie might work with him and adapt his game.

I do feel that time will work wonders tho

Worst German team in my lifetime. That being said, I'm only 3 years old 👶.
