Woltemade had a really great 6 months. I’m not convinced he goes on to become a top player. He has talent but plays like he’s 19.

Equally he plays like hes 70, still has a great first touch but zero strength or athleticism anymore

Great first touch if it's directly at his feet

If he has to use any other part of his body or even remotely stretching for it (like with Bruno playing a clever ball into the box to him on Sunday) then we're yet to see how great it is

You're probably looking at a Berbatov type player which don't exist any more

Even if you think of current good strikers in the Prem now, there's none that are both slow and weak

Comparisons to Berbatov are extremely flattering. I don't remember Berbatov falling over the ball

Is he vegan or something?

Either vegan or a kissing cousin thereto (sorry for my hillbilly reference there). There was a video the team put out where he tasted and critiqued the vegan meal options at the grounds. He'll need to figure out how to get enough protein in his diet to bulk up a bit. That's a lot of tofu.

From the AI machine:

"Nick Woltemade follows a primarily plant-based (vegan) diet, which he adopted about two and a half years ago to improve his athletic performance and reduce muscle cramps. While he describes himself as "secretly" vegan, he has mentioned eating mostly plant-based foods, such as tofu, along with some fish."

OK get him on a shark based diet.

Maybe because PIF told Howe all along they wouldn’t sell Isak only to crumble late in the window.

That doesn't make sense as someone up the thread noted:

To be fair he was not on the top of the list.

Pedro

Delap

Ekitika

Sesko

And these were only the failed bids we knew about.

We were always looking for another striker.  We just got desperate when established players didn't want to come to Newcastle resulting in the panic buy.

Yes but the pressure is off if you still have Isak. Could’ve looked again in January and at very least probably would’ve got Wissa for the original £25m quoted.

Anyone who knows anything about PIF will know they’ll of had to sign it off (Isak sale and Nick purchase).

Fair, but as a great Brit is rumored to have once said, it's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, innit? Is it the fact that Nick's game simply isn't suited to the EPL? Is it that Eddie's system is old and predictable? Some combination? Because given what we've seen this year I'm not sure I'd trust any striker outside maybe Haaland to score 15 for us this year the way we're playing.

Speaking of Haaland, whatever Nick's future and wherever he may play next year, he has to bust his ass in the weight room this summer to get stronger. That part of his game should be easiest to fix. I wonder if his diet has something to do with that.

It's definitely a fair point, plant protein is nowhere near as potent as animal protein and the body requires a whole lot more to produce muscle, but its not impossible like.

He’d fit their style better than ours and Atletico is losing their striker (forget his name). They’re safely in UCL next year too and who knows he might be allowed to play this time.

I don’t think they can or will come anywhere close to the fee we paid though so it probably won’t happen. It’s an interesting business model though. Secure a high-value asset, do your level best to alienate it, then sell low. Kinda like Mercedes did with Chrysler.

Could see him doing really well in Spain. Would be a nice move for him I think.

If they sell Alvarez they should have a lot of money to spend too, and so hopefully they can bid a decent amount.

Article says they expect for both Sorloth and Griezmann to leave this summer too. So big changes to their front line it looks like.

Imagine selling Alvarez and replacing him with Woltemade

Was really puzzled by Man City selling him. Must have been because it was difficult to fit him in with Haaland, and he wanted to play more. Massive fee ofcourse, but they miss him.

Thought it was just as puzzling that Simeone wanted him. Don't think he really suits his style and it's been a bit of a waste of his overall talents.

He has 8 goals in the league for them this season and 17 last year. He's been out scored by Sorloth both seasons in the league despite Sorloth being the backup striker.

Think ideally Simeone wants more size and presence upfront.

As Arne Slot once said. Isak is struggling because they don't have a Jacob Murphy. For the sake of his carreer, Alvarez should pick us.

How bad must our current number 9 be if even Murphy can't help him.
