This doesn't really work though

It's on a penalty if the player has no other suitors. Let's not pretend the agent isn't getting paid either way like.

I’m suggesting we pay him significantly more to facilitate the deals getting done quickly. And we sign less players per window but we get our higher profile targets.

I hear you but is that practical? Tbh it felt like we did that last summer or tried too.

We know we need a massive rebuild and obviously taking this approach increases the chance of seeing Popey rock up in nets, elanga running down the right flank. Our bald magician missing changes right left and centre.

I really struggle to accept that we're always getting all of the information, so that may or may not be entirely the problem. Also a form of where PSR hurts us though because an extra few million per year is meaningless to Liverpool (we have also dug our own grave on this in a number of ways to be clear).

Agreed, we can’t be certain what is and what is not accurate.  This does keep happening though.  I actually don’t blame the club for being gazumped by Liverpool - they’re more attractive with or without PSR rules - it’s our speed which I find frustrating, along with our apparent inability to work on multiple targets at once.  We have to know by now that there’s a really good chance we’ll get gazumped, and we can’t keep wasting three or four weeks on players who ultimately don’t sign.

Sure, but if an employee has a solid offer from Adobe or Zillow while waiting to hear back from Google or Netflix they are going to delay the process.

But then you know they are stalling. That’s still useful information.

I hire contractors frequently - speed is critical. If they stall - I keep interviewing and assessing the market.  If i think a deal will be made, I concentrate on getting it done and put other candidates on the back burner.  If I can’t even agree a ceiling rate with my company I’m losing. Powerful information and potential deals don’t get done.

Theres about 100 days left of the window when we need to get a lot of business done. Losing 7-10 days comprising say 5% of the days available materially matters.

I don’t think losing this lad is the end of the world.  I think it’s an opportunistic signing for Liverpool rather than someone they love.  I think it’s someone Iraola likes a lot too.  But getting beaten when we couldn’t even agree a fee is a bad omen and I hope Wilson and co. Are screaming to Hopkinson and PIF that they need to move fated and more decisive.

Chins up lads.

75% of us didn't even know who this guy was a week or so ago!

Howe out gang will get their wish. Dyche in by December

Relegated by March

Saudis hounded out by June

Cloob back!

Let the good times troll...

In seriousness. We will be fine and move on to someone else. Hate the fucking gut punch and Romano drawing everyone in.

I think player transfers are ultimately handled by a small pool of people.  Unless they’ve been working on them for months - priorities take place.

We just have structural issues all over the shop and nobody is seemingly able to address them.

We don't have our own talent funnel so we got into the open market trying to buy players who have better options, the so called project has lost its lustre so we have no resorted to our sales pitch being we will sell you on for a profit

It's really shit and the deck is stacked against us, I think deep down this is what people are angry about.

Can't say I'll lose any sleep over this, but would have been nice to go through a summer without being done over by fucking Liverpool again.

Have the feeling we've been used a little here, but we've got to start doing business quicker.

I think when we look are reporting timelines this makes sense but ultimately I don't think it works that way. As long as Liverpool are in touch with his agent then our speed is limited anyways.

For all we know we could have been pushing them like mad but getting blue ticked

It's a negotiation you can only go as fast as other parties.

Aye, the player and the agent don't have anything to gain by acting lightning quickly as long as we are not Real Madrid or Barca.

Aren't we? Our squad last year was worse than it was the year before and it seems it's going to get worse again unless we figure out how to buy better. A lot of work to do imo at the club and I'm not just talking about the players. Now im not saying people are crap at their jobs as I don't know them but the process seems to have issues.

We were liek two wins off European places. We played fucking shit tons of games last year. Alright it wasn't great but fuck me man you'd think we were a relegation outfit. The way some of you go on is pathetic.

I said this before part of the gold of the previous regime was we moved with conviction.  If we believed a player would be worth €80m or €125m in 3 years time we pushed to get deals done to get our man.  A lot of those signings came with a premium.  Somme were done very quickly.

We were selling we are the next PSG, that really helps.

We can't sell that anymore because nobody believes it.

It was stated before the season ended that moving quickly was really important so we could have a good preseason. It's still early but we're in a tight window here to get some major business done in the next few weeks. It's not about September for me.

The initial optics here suggest we've dicked about over a few million quid. That is not good when we have specifically said speed is key.

In the video Romano says we were Still negotiating with Osasuna to get close to €40m.  Knowing the release clause is €40m.

That doesn’t bode well for the summer if that’s how we will go about business. I hope we pivot a bit. If we thought this lad has a Gordon ceiling the quibbling seems like a needless risk.

We were about 2 losses off relegation also

On the club this.

It should have been tied up either at the back end of last week, or over the weekend.

We need to be ruthless, that means paying that £5m more, and it means telling the player that he has 48 hours to sign once he has said he wants to.

They fucked about with every transfer last summer and got fucked over on all of them, and they have fucked about on this one as well.

Same clubs the agents really want players to go to will still be alerted if we act fast or not.

Hearing Liverpool only signed him because we wouldn't sell them Gordon. They are going get sign Gordon from Barca next just for kicks.
