But he didn't, so what is the point in asking that?

The point is we would lose out on 60m.

The 45m was just an example. If the clause is low on Munoz its a shit deal for us if he turns out to be good. Its not a win win for us.

So a hypothetical about a hypothetical about a hypothetical? got ya.

'we could miss out on £60m (figure plucked from nowhere), if the buy back is £45m (figure plucked from nowhere) if the clause (that we don't even know is true) is activated (which it may well not be).

And the comparison for that is a made up figure on Isak of £70m and would I have been happy with it.

Great chat!

Yeah sorry, was probably a bit rude there.

Maybe im just getting old though.

As I say, apologies for being rude, mate.

Thats fine. But put it down to a few words, a buy back clause could potentially mean we lose out on a big fee.

I’d still do the deal but we’ll go round in circles, mate. Leave it there.

Just to stoke the fire, a buy back clause isn't the same as a release clause.

Buy back just means Madrid can match any fee agreed with another club.

Release clauses have a set figure that triggers a sale.

But, as mentioned previously, if Madrid come calling we'd have to accept that the player would be on their toes, clause or no clause.

Does a buy back close last forever or will it stop after the initial contact term?

Lee Ryder saying Real Madrid have the option to buy him back for £24m every summer up until 2029.

Real Madrid has already got Vini, Mbappe and Rodrygo who can play at LW and if they want an upgrade it can only be a Ballon d'Or contender like Kvaratskhelia, and I don't really think Munoz is of that calibre. So I agree that the probable reason why they want to insert a buy-back clause is to block any future transfer to Barca. With this in mind I'm actually okay with such clause.

So have we brought this guy so we can become Madrid's puppy farm yet?, or are we still worrying that a Spanish lad with no connections to the North East of England might fancy returning to his homeland in a couple of years to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world while we make a few quid on him?.

Has anyone else actually stood up this one random twitter report out of Spain about the buy back? Feels like a lot of bed wetting over nothing..

A hell of a lot of misunderstanding kicking about re a buy back clause as well.  The player doesn’t have to just slink back to the club with the buy back clause.
