Anyone seen how the 'new' dugout looks like? Anyone uploaded the nufctv video of the face lift done to the SJP pitch and dugout?

I still have dreams one day that SJP will be expanded even bigger..but just dont think Fat Mike is the man to do it..

I think one thing he would do if he could in increase capacity he's not that daft that he does not see the fact more seats means more income unless he cannot fill them of course.

We need those fkn listed buildings burnt to the ground.

Video doesn't show the new dugout mate, I assume it's not finished yet. Pitch is apparently coming along nicely.

There was absolutely nowt there as of a week last Monday when I was on a tour. They'd stripped the entire area bear and had just started measuring up etc.

I'd imagine with a new dugouts to fit and build, as well as the heated seating and such, it'll be a couple more weeks until it's done.

Those listed buildings are beautiful, in a dream world we could have an all one size rounded stadium, but the lopsidedness gives it more character and gives those on level 7 a pretty good view of the city when the match itself is boring. We can extend to somewhere between 60k-62k by just expanding the Gallowgate to a mirror image of the Leazers end already and that would make it one of the biggest stadiums in Britain. I would gladly settle for 62k. Anyway theirs nothing stopping us from raising the East stand a little, providing the roof was transparent to allow the sunlight to shine on the listed buildings behind.

Is this the same Mike Ashley who bought NUFC without looking at the books first, and the same Mike Ashley who regularly visits casino's, including holidays to Las Vegas and winning £1m at Aspers?

On the subject of SJP, when I drove past it the other day I got to thinking that I really hope we don't go and build a new stadium at some point in the future, to get a bigger capacity.

The fact that it's slap bang in the middle of the city and kind of overshadows everywhere else, is class. Is there any PL other ground in the country that is so centralised?

i would just love if the Gallowgate was just developed a little bit more and like u said, mirror the Leazes stand..would look like Celtic's stadium with the horseshoe design..and it would still give 3 sides of the stadium a wonderful view of the city..especially in the early part of the summer and those cold winter nights..placing screens in the corner atop of the East stands adjacent to the Gallowgate and Leazes would be a dream stadium

As much as he is a good business man I am surprised how he don't want to expand the stadium... If the fans start love him and sing his name he might think about that... In order to active that he needs good three to four postive seasons in the pitch..

I don't think he needs to spend much money either he can give our debts to a bank... And put the 100 million he loan us into the stadium..

Do you care to explain the reason behind your smily?

Your post amused me.

Dear Leazes Terrace resident,

As you will undoubtedly know Newcastle United football club is constantly seeking to maximise revenue to fulfil the potential of this great club. It has therefore been agreed, with the permission of the City Council, to extend our East Stand to a similar height of our current magnificent Milburn Stand. This, unfortunately, will have some repercussions for yourself. We at NUFC appreciate your co-operation in this matter and as a result of the club moving the boundary of the new East Stand to within 14cm of your front door, the club has shown it's appreciation of your inconvenience by fitting this new stand with a glass roof so your chimneys can bask in the sunlight all day. Thank you and good day sir.

Yours sincerely

Derek Llambias

How would we fill that?

There's absolutely no point in extending atm. If we go back to the days when we were sold out week in, week out then consider it; until then leave it as it is. Plus, as others have said, I quite like the lopsidedness and the character it brings, it's unique to SJP and is currently it's defining feature.

A few years ago, when they demolished most of the buildings on the other side of barrack rd, i wondered (ok, dreamed) if there was any possibility of the stadium moving back so that barrack rd went underneath the milburn. That would allow the east stand to be raised without compromising the sight lines of leazes terrace. Big job, but hey it's not my cash and i'm not an architect. I know it's completely unfeasible, but i'd love to see us break our attendance record. Maybe even break the mackems too, what was it, 73ish? Yeah, that would be a giggle..

I think the closest would be Wolves which is separated from the town centre by the ring road.

Your post amused me. The building is owned by Newcastle University and is 97% student occupied, when they are at uni. The rest of the time it is vacant. Also, those front doors are mainly ornamental, entrance and egress are make by doors within the rear court-yard. Finally, there is no such thing as a 'Right of Light' so that would not hinder planning permission.

Having said all that it is a beautiful looking biulding even though inside it is a rabbit warren of corridors and tiny bedrooms.

It was more the idea that putting a glass roof on the top of the stand made it a goer.

Never mind.
