Wigan 1 - 0 Newcastle - Post match thread

Oh aye the half time team talk, no doubt he told them what was what, or do you really think he just said well done lads more of the same? its upto them to react and stand up and fight.

Why is it every club does the same blames their managers for poor performances and players seem to escape and blame. Look at Westham quick to sack Pardrew and now in more s*** than they were when he was there.

Rot has set in at Westham and we are close to going the same way.

Its because managers have ultimate responsibilty. Hence the title "manager".

So what would a manager ever get the blame for then?

Do you think the team and tactics chosen today enabled the players to play to their best? Is there really no value in team talks?

Christ on a bike.

Yes, the players did not do themselves justice, and must accept sme form of blame but, at the end of the day the responsbility for the performances and results lie with Roeder.

And its that view thats lets players rest on their laurels when they know the manager will take the blame and they can just carry on pissing about and getting apid.

How many out there today looked like they want to play for the shirt, play with pride and fight to get back into the game ?

Roeder picked a team of his strongest players what he had availible, Dyer was a huge miss and since he has been back he has played like he wants to win games.

Milner had played 41 games and deserved a rest, Duff has been very poor but who esle did he have for wide elft ? Luque has done fk all and Zoggy was just back from a long time out.

I'm sure you know that the manager decides whether they get in the team, are sold, or deserve a new contract. Just for starters those should be pretty good weapons in a managers arsenal to stop players resting on their laurels or 'pissing about'.

I am not saying he is 100% blameless, I am saying he is not the only one that should  take the blame!

Roeder will not whinge about injuries but I will, he has missing today, Owen, Babayaro, Carr, Shola, Emre, Moore. with Parker and Sib both back but late fittnes tests on them both, so neither of them @ 100%

Shepherd not good enough

Roeder not good enough

Coaches not good enough

Defenders not good enough

Strange that, considering we lost today because we had fuck all creativity in midfield and couldn't take our chances up front. The defence were the only ones who played well today.

It's not just about today, is it?

People are posting blaming Roeder, thats it his fault end of! But its not, he is the manager so he wil lhold his hands up but the players should hold their hands up also and take some of the blame for today.

And yep back four did do better today, conceded a good freekick only.

Its like we can only do one or the other, deffend or attack cannot do both int he same game.

We are missing Emre and Dyer and thats not Roeders fault they are missing.

We need a more creative lineup!

-------------------Given

Nobby------Taylor-------Gooch------Baba

Milner-------Parker------Emre------Duff

-------------Dyer--------Martins

Do we usually create loads in midfield and score tons of goals then? I must have missed that.

But the most annoying thing with Roeder is that he's not even trying to change anything when things are just not going our way! I'm quite happy with our defensive play in last few matches but when we do play defensive...our attack looks very weak and Oba has no support at all and vise versa.

Very poor performance today as a whole and if there's anyone for MOM...it has to be Given once again

I think that today Roeder actually tried to change something by making those 2 subs(Milner and Zogy).

Usually he is making subs in the 85th minute and today he did that in the 60th minute so he actually tried to change something

Newcastle are a typical mid-table team. They struggle away from home because they havent got the crowd on there backs, Same as the likes of Spurs and Blackburn. Every now and then we'll have a good game away from home but over the whole season our away record will be very poor.

If Roeder plays those players in the next match who put in a shitter of a shift today, that's only ever going to breed complacency in the players.  Call it 'Stephen Carr Syndrome', and it's the manager's fault.

Maybe so...but it was a left winger for another left winger and exactly the same with Milner for Nobby. Actually Carroll's sub was something of a change as he was forced to go for 3-4-3 but way too late...
