Guest smoggeordie
It's obvious that all our natural set piece takers are cack at delievering them in but one thing I did notice on Saturday (that was positive), Nicky Butt whipped in a beautiful corner at the death. I'd never seen him take one before, but since he rarely wins a header, maybe its worth letting him take a few more from now on.
Skirge
Our corners were very poor at the weekend, even Nobby's were shocking, he even tried pulling one back for Butt to volley I wonder how offten that has worked in training ? Can't be eaasy though hitting a Toon player when we have no real height in there, even when Gooch plays we do not seem to aim for him with his height advantage you think it would be the first choice from corners. James
If you can't train against players who take a good set-piece, you wont learn how to defend against them in match days. A specialist set-piece taker must be one of our priorities this summer.

Rich
Nicky Butt, set-piece specialist. It's got a nice ring to it, I'll give you that much. Can't help but think we're clutching at straws when we're on about one corner from an unusual source being positive in 94 minutes of football, though. He's also a miles better option in the box than Milner, Solano, Emre and N'Zogbia as well, so I'd still be dubious about it, despite the zany quality it has to it. Is this a serious post or not, by the way? The way things are on here lately I barely have a fucking clue anymore.

Rich
It was the best corner I've ever seen, in fairness. It was effortless in execution. A true marvel.

A specialist set-piece taker must be one of our priorities this summer. Nobby is normally a good set piece taker. Milner seems to take free kicks and corners rather than Nobby these days though. Well he did before he was dropped anyway.

Mr. Snrub
Another reason why Luque should be ahead of Sibierski in the pecking order?
Guest eyeball_tickler
we waste far too many throw ins too. we had one down by the corner flag on saturday and it ended up back with given. there's never any movement and when there is, the thrower (carr mainly) dont spot it. Guest smoggeordie
A Gooch throw in is better than any corner, except a Nicky Butt one

Guest Alan Shearer 9
I'm not bad at corners tbh. Probably would put better ones in than Emre, not even joking.

Newcastle Fan
Luque is a good set piece taker.. Then again,he is never going to play for us again,so i think we should try either Solano or Duff for our corners,Solano mainly for freekicks Emre should NOT take ANY set piece for us,can't understand why he keeps taking them despite the fact that he is shit in doing so.. Guest Albert Ayler
When Solano plays, he takes the set-pieces. Not Milner. Simple logic.
RR15
Milner's set peices never go beyond the first man. Many of times he's took players on, brilliantly infact, then when it's come to the time of crossing it in, he's very poor.
Begbie
as long as emre dont take them im fine Agree with you here. Dont know what ppl really see in emre, everytime I have seen him play, he looks shite. He has no tactical skills so what ever, allways rush into players hoping to take the ball, and they just take the ball to teh side and run around him. He makes the midfield look wide open. If we get 3M+ We should really sell him!
